I fell on my face, spitting out the grass in my mouth. Why couldn't I have had a safe landing. A branch cracked, my head snapped in the direction of the noise. Fire inflaming my hands.
"Who is there?"
The stranger came out of the shadows. It was a girl looking around the age of 10 maybe 13. She looked the age of my form.
"Please don't hurt me"
She looked down surrendering. She had a British accent. The girl wore a blue dress with a white lace apron like over top of her dress. The girl's hair was pulled back into a braid a blue bow matching her dress fell down on her shoulder. She looked up at me her eyes as blue as her dress.
"You never answered my question. Who are you?"
"Alice. "
"Emma."
The girl, Alice, rushed to my aid. Alice helped me up. We exchanged glances once or twice but mainly kept our heads down. It was awkward ,I admit. Alice struggled to get me out of the mud. She pulled and tugged at me for awhile. Finally Alice got a stick and used it to help me out of the mud. My clothes were ruined. Lilly's late nights sewing had gone to waste.
"Thank you for your help Alice , but this is farewell for now."
"Wait! Haven't you heard of the queen of hearts?"
"No, but I did see the little demons that stole MY dragon!"
"A dragon? Like fire breathing?"
"There are water dragons too and other elements."
"Really I have never seen one."
A roar shook them in the distance. The trees tumbling down sending dust up. Alice takes a knife out unexpectedly. Out of nature Emma's flames up her hands.
"I have a way out, slowly follow me Emma."
"What is it?"
"I'll tell you later. Just keep your voice down and back slowly into the rabbit hole behind us."
"The what!"
Emma is stopped mid sentence as she collapses down the rabbit hole. Alice turns and jumps behind her.
