Its Been so Long

It wasn't often Sara had the opportunity to sneak out of the Kujou Encampment to meet her lover, Kokomi, her job was far too demanding and put her in the spotlight far too much. Not to mention the rising tension between the Shoguns army and the Watatsumi rebels was far too much for it not to cause a scandal if word got out she was privately meeting their leader. Even thinking about it made anxiety build in her chest but this didn't stop her from meeting with Kokomi from time to time.

It pained her with how long since her last visit, was it weeks? A month? She had no idea but it was far too long. Thoughts continued to run through her mind as she walked along the shores of Tatarasuna. With a cloak covering any of her identifiable features, she took in the scenery; the whistling of the wind as it travelled between the gaps of the cliffs to her left; the sound of soft waves as they swept the sandy shores to the right, the sun painting the sky in various oranges and pinks as it sets in the horizon, and the giant broken ship in the distance on Nazuchi beach.

As she approached the beach she thought about how in a couple days time this beach will become a battlefield. The yells of soldiers and rebels alike as they try to overpower one another. She could almost see the sand dyed crimson from blood already. The dropped spears and bodies of both the army and the rebels littering the beach. Sara looked at the ground sorrowfully worried her worst thoughts may come true, she could only pray to the electro archon that the casualties will be few as none will be impossible.

When she looked back up towards the beached ship and sea next to it she noticed the water rippling strangely a short distance from the shore up ahead. It was far too large to be a fish but there were no signs of a dorsal fin so it couldn't be a shark or dolphin. No of course it wasn't any of those things, she knew what this strange rippling in the water meant, that was her lover swimming in the water. As if on cue she saw a head of pink hair and indigo eyes peek out the water for a brief moment before going back under water and speeding in Saras direction.

Her eyes sparkled in excitement as she ran towards the ripples, the hood of her cloak falling from her head. The mermaid in the water gets closer to the shore, as the water gets more shallow and she can no longer use her tail to swim she drags her slowly morphing body out of the water. Her shimmering blue tail turned into two human legs. Kokomi stands as fast as she can to run towards Sara, stumbling slightly but she doesn't care. She doesn't care for anything else right now, not her naked body or the cold breeze giving her previously scaly body goosebumps only her tengu lover running in her direction.

Sara jumps into Kokomis arms, knocking the other woman to the ground as she is leaning over her. The two of them stared at each other for what was only a moment but felt like minutes. They took in one anothers features. Sara studies Kokomis face; she takes in the small water droplets on her eyelashes and how her soaking pink hair darkens the dry sand below them, she sees the way Kokomis eyes are filled with nothing but love, the slight blush on her cheeks and her soft pink lips that are slightly open as she breathes revealing sharp pearly teeth.

Meanwhile Kokomi admires Sara, her usually perfectly cared for hair slightly messy from having her hood up and running against the wind. She looks in awe at the way her hair transitions to feathers behind her ears and down the back of her neck, the way her lover is breathing heavily with pink cheeks from the sprint, the light in her eye that only appears when Sara sees something she loves. Kokomi can't help but put her hand on Saras cheek to bring the two of them into a passionate and loving kiss.

"It's been so long, I've missed you so much." Sara says after she separates the kiss; She moves back slightly to let Kokomi sit up.

"Oh Sara, I know, I've missed you too." Kokomi responds before quickly giving her another kiss. Sara hugs her again while leaning into her shoulder and closing her eyes for a moment while Kokomi plays with her hair. Kokomi smelled of the ocean, slightly salty but refreshing, a scent that Sara savoured as it brought her comfort. The two of them stayed in that position for a while bathing in the comfort of each other's arms.

A particularly strong breeze sends goosebumps down Kokomis body. Sara sits back up her face turning a deep shade of crimson upon realising Kokomis lack of clothing, she quickly undoes her cloak and drapes it over Kokomis shoulders. "I'm sorry, please take this. It will keep you warm."

"I- Thank you.." Kokomi tries to say it's alright but before she could the cloak was already wrapped around her. They sit next to one another in silence with their hands intertwined. The only sound was the wind and the crashing of the waves. It was peaceful and the two of them enjoyed it even if no words were spoken. Sara could only hope they can have evenings like these more regularly; hopefully once they cross paths in a week's time things can be sorted out without much bloodshed between each side and the two of them no longer have to hide like this.
