Faith's P.O.V.
"Miss it's time to get up. The plane has landed." An unfamiliar female voice says and I feel like I'm being shaken.
I open my eyes to see a girl about my age with short brown hair shaking me ever so slightly. I sit up and begin to stretch. She takes a step back and waits for me to stand up.
"I'm so sorry. Thank you for waking me up." I say sweetly and give her the best smile I can manage after being cooped up in this plane for so long.
"It's ok. People fall asleep all the time." She laughs and I join in for a second. I stand up and grab my bag. I exit the plane and follow everybody into the airport and towards the baggage claim. I find my suitcase with horses and walk out of the crowded airport and into the rain.
I forgot how much it rains here. That's just something I'm gonna have to get used to I guess. I watch as people talk on their phones, run to loved ones, and whistle for cabs. I follow their lead and whistle for the nearest cab. It pulls up beside me and the driver steps out. He's an older man with white hair and a kind smile. I mentally thank The good Lord above for giving me a nice cab driver. He opens the backseat door for me and takes my bags. He opens the trunk and gently puts them in. I slid into the warm cab and buckle up.
"Where to miss?" He asks when he climbs inside. I pull out the address to my new apartment and read it to him.
He puts the cab in drive and heads towards my new home.
"So, what's brings you to Seattle?" He asks politely.
"Oh, well I'm here to pursue my dreams of becoming a writer." I say and blush when I realize how childish that sounds.
"Oh really? That's amazing. We need more young people like yourself with ambition these days." He says with a genuine smile that's takes away some of my embarrassment.
"Thank you." I smile.
The rest of the drive is silent and we arrive less than thirty minutes later.
"Here's your stop." The driver says and steps out to open my door. He gets my luggage from the back and hands it to me.
"Good luck with everything miss." He says and sticks out his hand to shake.
"Thank you very much...," I trail off not knowing his name.
"Bill." He says.
"Thank you very much Bill." I smile. He nods and walks back to his cab. He waves goodbye to me, hops inside and drives off.
I wave back until I can no longer see his car an then make my way to my new apartment. I take out my key and open my door.
I gasp once I flip the light switch.
The apartment looks perfect! The living room has nice chestnut walls with white curtains at the windows. It has two book shelves on either side of a flat screen tv. The couches are nice brown leather. There are two coffee tables with nice lamps sitting on top of them. The living room leads into a kitchen with granite counters, an island with bar stools, brown cabinets, a refrigerator, sink, and dishwasher.
I walk back out into the living room and head into the hall. There are two rooms. A bedroom and a bathroom.
I walk into the bedroom and take it in. There's a huge bed with a soft brown comforter and white pillows with brown trim, a nice bookshelf beside a big window, a flat screen tv on top of a small shelf, a bedside table, a walk in closet, and many nice decorations.
The bathroom has the same warm feeling as the rest of the house. It has a big bath and shower. A sink, toilet, and many decorations as well.
This place is absolutely perfect for me! I can't believe my parents did this for me.
I get out my phone and call them as fast as I can.
"Hello princess! How do you like your new apartment?" My dad asks happily.
"It's amazing! I love it so much! It's absolutely perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I squeal into the phone. My dad just chuckles while my mom tells him to out me on speaker.
"We're glad you love it honey and you're very welcome! How is it so far? Is it what you expected?" My mom asks.
"I only just got here. I'll let you know after I'm formulated an opinion." I tell with a laugh.
"Ok baby girl. Well we don't wanna keep you since you just got there. Be safe and we love you." My mom says.
"Love you both and thank you so much." I say into the phone before I hang up.
Now all that's left to do is unpack or go out and look around?
Going out and looking around wins.
I change into some different clothes, grab my bag, and head out while locking my door.
Where to first?
"Hey. You must be new. My name's Marley. I'm your neighbor." I look over and see a girl about my age smiling at me from her front porch.
Hi. I'm Faith. It's nice to meet you." I smile back.
"Where ya from?" She asks curiously.
"Greenville, Tennessee. I just moved in today." I inform her.
"Wow Tennessee! You must be all southern and stuff." She says and laughs.
"Yeah, I am." I say and laugh along with her.
"Hey, I'm going out tonight to meet up with some friends. Do you wanna come?" She asks.
Do I? I mean, I know I just met her and all so I probably shouldn't be going anywhere with her, but I do need all the friends I can get. And it's not like I have anywhere else I wanna go.
"Come on! It'll be fun." She says and I laugh.
"Ok. I'm in." I say and she cheers.
I follow her to her car and jump in the passenger seat. She turns on the radio and hums along to whatever song is playing.
"So Faith, tell me about yourself." Marley says and looks over at me.
"Well, my full name is Faith Lee Logan. I live on a farm in Tennessee with my parents. We raise horses. Um, I'm twenty years old and I came here to become a writer." I tell her.
"Oh really? I've always wanted to ride a horse." She squeals and I laugh.
Twenty minutes later we're out of the city and pulling onto a dirt road.
"Wait, where are we going?" I ask nervously.
She just laughs at my expression. "Chill. I'm not gonna kill you or anything. You'll see where we're going."
All the sudden I can hear this loud music that I know's not coming from radio. We get closer to the music and by now I can see a lot of people and a lot of cars.
"Where are we?" I ask.
"We're at a street race."
