"Rumeysa, come home early today. You know Gabriel is coming, and we're invited for dinner at your uncle's house to celebrate his arrival and discuss important party matters," Mrs. Dawood said excitedly. But Rumeysa stayed silent, focused on her breakfast, lost in her thoughts.

"Are you even listening to me, Rumeysa? I'm talking to you!" her mom exclaimed, her voice rising with a mix of concern and frustration. She placed her hand on her hip, her eyebrows furrowing.

"I'm listening, Mom," Rumeysa replied in a flat tone, her eyes never leaving her plate. Her voice was detached, a stark contrast to her mom's urgency.

"I have a hectic schedule today. A court hearing at 11 am, a meeting with a persecuted family, a visit to the orphanage, a meeting at 6 pm, and an office dinner at 9 pm. I won't be able to make it. I'll let Uncle know," she said, rattling off her schedule quickly while continuing to eat.Mrs. Dawood stared at her daughter, disappointment filling her eyes.

She sighed, her face etched with worry, her lips pressed into a thin line. She knew her daughter's stubbornness, her independence. Asher and Mr. Dawood stayed silent throughout, their faces blank as they ate, almost as if they weren't there.

"Let's go, Asher," Rumeysa said, standing up swiftly and grabbing her bag. Her long dark hair swung behind her like a curtain as she headed for the door.

"But I'm not done with breakfast, Unnie (Sister)," Asher protested, his face scrunching into a sad pout.

"Bring it with you. Hurry up, I'm waiting outside," she ordered, her voice firm but her eyes softening slightly as she glanced at him.As she left, her mom turned on her dad, her voice loud and echoing through the hallway,

"Look at your daughter, Dawood! You've spoiled her. She only cares about herself! The press will be there tonight, and it'll be a disaster if she doesn't show up."

Mr. Dawood, ever calm, defended Rumeysa. "You know she doesn't want to go. Why forcing her?"

Mrs. Dawood's face turned red with anger. "Because of her, Yousaf Hyung sent Gabriel abroad eight years ago! Because of your daughter, he didn't want to come back. Don't you know how much Yousaf and Tasha have done to bring him home?"

"Yousaf sent him away for better education, to make him a successful politician," Mr. Dawood said, disappointment in his voice. "Rumeysa did nothing to him. In fact, she agreed with us, remember?"

Frustrated, Mrs. Dawood stormed out of the room, leaving Mr. Dawood behind, his face lined with sadness. As Rumeysa was about to drive off, her dad approached her, knocking on the window. His face was worried, eyes full of concern.

She rolled down the window and looked at him with soft, puppy-like eyes. "What is it, Dad?" she asked."You're my strength, my little princess. Don't make things harder for yourself,"he said, gently patting her cheek. "Sometimes, I wonder if we made the wrong decision."

She took his hand, her head lowered. "Now you're just embarrassing me, Dad."

"Please try to come, sweetheart. Your mom's furious, and I'm getting scolded because of you," he said softly, his eyes pleading. She sighed, her shoulders slumping. "Okay, I'll try,"

She whispered, then rolled up the window and drove off to work.Asher, sitting beside her, finally spoke up, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Unnie, Gabriel Hyung is so handsome. Why do you hate him so much?"

"Shut up, Asher, and finish your breakfast," she snapped, her face stern, her eyes flashing with annoyance.

Asher continued eating, his mind racing with questions. "But Unnie, you said you had dinner plans. Didn't we already have dinner with office staff last Saturday?"
