I: Agony

Beomgyu's life as a butler of one of the most powerful families in Asia wasn't that bad. The Kangs were known for their strictness when it came to their child's education, reputation and skills. On the other hand, they cared a lot for their staff's wellbeing. All of the workers earned enough money for a decent living, like that every staff member could support their wives, husbands, kids, parents...

family, in other words.

But Beomgyu hadn't got any of that.

«It's time to wake up, Your Royal Highness.»

A groan can be heard from the bed when Beomgyu suddenly opened the curtains, letting the delicate sunlight of the sunrise in the room.

«We're already late. Don't complain to me when you'll get scolded by His Majesty.» Beomgyu continued as he admired the young prince yawning, like that he couldn't get caught staring. Finally, the younger got up.

«Thank you, Beomgyu. I'll get ready, you can leave now.» his voice deep as he just returned from Dreamland, going back to the truthfulness of the real, dark world. The butler nodded and bowed before leaving the bedroom.

Taehyun took a quick shower and got dressed rapidly since him and his parents had in schedule an important meeting that morning, but he didn't know why they labeled it as important. Normally, all of their meetings are, or else they wouldn't be called 'meetings'.

That is why Taehyun expected a routine meeting, nothing special. But as soon as he saw the Kims in the living room of the castle, his thought changed. What were they doing here and what did his parents plan this time?

All the Kims' 3 members got up to greet the young prince who had just arrived, his assistant beside him. The brown-haired butler was always by Taehyun's side. In fact, they never left each other ever since they were kids.

King Kim and Queen Kim approached the prince first.

«Good morning, Prince Taehyun, we are pleased to meet you and your family again.» Said the royals.

«The pleasure is mine, Your Majesties.» Taehyun and Beomgyu bowed.

The King and the Queen sat down and their daughter, Princess Nari, got closer to Prince Taehyun.

«Hi Taehyun!» the beautiful young girl slightly bowed.

«Hello Nari.» the boy and the butler also bowed to greet her.

«It's been so long since we last seen... we are grown-ups now. Time really flies.» it was true. Taehyun remembered playing with her when they were little kids and he really enjoyed her company. He must admit that the girl got even prettier over the years, as excepted.

She was indeed tall, maybe a bit taller than Taehyun. Her hair has always been long and brown, her eyes small and sharp, just like her nose. Her heart-shaped lips were full and plump and looked even more attractive when she smiled.

Her skin seemed so delicate and soft. The prince really wanted to know her skincare routine and products so his skin could look just a little like hers... or maybe the princess was just naturally perfect as she seemed divine.

«I know... and my duties as a prince are already so stressful! I can't imagine what our parents had gone through to become kings and queens. I hope my turn never comes at this point.» The fair-haired boy complained and sighed.

Nari chuckled. «But sooner or later, we are going to be the king and the queen, Taehyun-ssi.»

Her words left Taehyun shaken. It isn't that he didn't know he was going to be the king one day, but Taehyun felt something shady in her speech and his smartness could never let his intuition slide so easily. Something really felt off.
