Heart of spades

Chapter 5

It's my birthday, I'm turning 17. Maxine told me she had a surprise that required packing for the beach.

When i finished packing my summer clothes and bathing suits I run down the stairs luggage in my arm. When I got to the bottom of the stairs Alex, Tar and Miles had their luggage next to them but Maxine didn't.

"W—What." Maxine smiles one of her big smiles.

"I figured since your turning 17 and Tar and Miles are 18, then you could go alone. Surprise guest will arrive after you, you'll share a villa all 8 of you."

We got in the car vibing to some music, Miles in the passenger seats and the rest of us behind. Tar and Miles were sharing AirPods. Us girls listened to Moves like Jagger.

"And if I share my secrets." I spat out leaning on my brother in the car.

"Your gonna have to keep them." Maxine continued as we burst out in laughter.

When we got to the airport, she kissed us all on our cheeks.

The villa was in the Maldives, it was a big, modern villa with 4 rooms, a pool and a slide that dipped in the ocean.

"I'm starving. I heard the buffet is almost over, if we rush there we could at least get pasta." Alex said holding her gurgling stomach.

"Ok ok." Let's go. We ran across the wooden platform to the restaurant above sea. We got there just in time to at least fill our stomachs.

Alex and I sat on the edge of the wooden platform in our bikinis while Tar and Miles splash us and swim with the harmless sharks in the ocean.

I felt cold hand on my back and next thing I know I'm in the ocean. Swimming up to get a breath of air. When I finally do. I see Eva, Cardan, Kyle and Lola. I pull myself on the wooden platform but before I could do anything Miles stepped between me and Eva.

"Listen here both of you and especially you Eva." He pointed his finger in her face. "It's Ella's birthday, so everyone has to be nice to her at least the rest of the vacation. Got it." Then I turned to Ky ans Lola.

"Who wants a wet hug." I asked opening my arms wide. Before I could hug everyone they jumped in the pool except for Cardan.

I just starred at him, not knowing what to do and before I figured it out he jumped in.

I was about to jump in when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned startled.

"Hey I'm James." He was a tall teenage boy definitely older than me. He was wearing a swimsuit. "I was wondering if I could—"

A beach ball hit my head when I turned I couldn't determine the thrower but I gave them all an angry look.

"Come with me." I said grabbing the boy's arm and dragging him away from my friends and Cardan and Eva. "Sorry I have very overprotective friends."

He blushed and smiled shyly scratching the back of his neck. "I was wondering if I could get your number."

I smiled back at him and after we exchanged numbers he gave me a funny bow. I giggled and bowed back.

I was about to head back to them when I bumped into Miles. "Did my brother send you?" I ask crossing my arms and rolling my eyes at them.

"Kiss me." He told me.

"W—What?" I ask my checks red and suddenly his lips are on mine, his hands on my waist.

When he pulls back he tells me something but my mind is to busy thinking of his lips and how they felt on mine. He wraps his arm around my waist then leaves to join the others.
