I sat in front of my mirror, my house elf stood beside me braiding my copper bangs back out of my face. Mother's footsteps grew closer, my door handle shook for a moment before a light shined through the keyhole and the door opened."Calista," she let out an irritated sigh, "Get up and get ready. We have been waiting on you for nearly fifteen minutes."
She up came to my elf, "Go attend to the guests" she commanded her sharply.
She pulled the braids back and put them into a tight half up ponytail, "That damn elf sitting here playing with your hair," she murmured "I sent her up here an hour ago to get you ready."
"It's not her fault, I wanted my hair out of my face." I say as I stand up. "I don't understand why I need to attend these it's boring." I
groaned as I followed her towards the door.Mother gave me a sharp look, "Well it's the last one, this one is just as important as the last." She spat
"It is to you," I muttered as we walked down to the party.
The first floor of our house was completely filled with purebloods, as it was every weekend. It was like a maze trying to weave through the people. My head immediately started busting, I hate all the loud music. I suddenly got spun around by my hand, my heart skipped a beat.
"Damnit Reggie, You scared me!" I yelped
Reggie is my childhood best friend. Him, Sirius and I basically grew up together. The two black brothers are practically twins tall with dark hair and sharp features. They are Pureblood royalty, my mother would likely have me marry one of them had the Rosier's not asked for my hand first.
"You kept everyone waiting for hours." He mocked while giving a smirk.
"Ha ha, Very funny." I chuckled.
"Want to get out-", before he even finished his sentence I was practically dragging him from the crowded room and out into the courtyard.
I couldn't stand these parties, this one was meant to be my engagement party, like the boy and I had even had enough time to know each other. My fifth year hadn't even started yet and I'm already in an arranged courtship.
The outside air wrapped around me, sending a chill down my exposed spine. A jacket was wrapped around me from behind. Regulus sat on the stone bench beside me and patted the seat.
"So fifth year huh?" He chuckled.
"I don't know what's so special about it" I kick my feet drawing circles in the pebbles.
"It's not," he says
He wrapped his arm around me, rubbing my shoulder softly. "Sixth year isn't any better, it's going to be quite boring,"
"Atleast your friends still talk to you, mine have been avoiding me since they found out about Evan."
"Sirius is complicated, you know this" he says, "I don't know the other three well enough to speak on their behalf, maybe they like you" he added.
"I severely doubt that, " I replied.
He murmurs "I disagree" then runs his hands through his hair.
I let out a sigh, a jolt ran through my shoulder, I look behind me and Evan was standing behind me. "Why are you out here?" He asked, "You'll freeze to death out here."
"It was just really loud in there," I look up at him and smile. I know he is going to want me to go back inside with him, I stand up and slip Reggie's coat off and back to him, "I catch up with you later Reg,"
"I'll see you on the train" he says with a smile.
Evan wraps his arms around me and leans close to my ear as we walk away "I don't want you alone with him again, understand?"
"But he is-" I murmur before getting cut off by a tight grip on my arm.
"Calista" he says sharply.
"Okay" I spit out.
"I'm sorry I scared you, I just don't want you to freeze out there," he says softly as we get inside.
"It's okay, I should have told you I'd be out there, I'm sorry." I replied
We walked to where everyone was dancing, he took my waist and twirled me around. A lustful smile plastered on his face, chills ran through my veins. I was actually having fun for once this summer.
We danced for what felt like hours, my shoes found a new home at the base of the stairs. Evan isn't all bad, his blonde hair is disorderly, he absolutely towers over me, don't even get me started on the rest of him.
The last song of the night ended, Evan had me held against him, I could fall asleep just standing there. My thoughts are blurry, honestly there are no thoughts except about sleep.
Evan lightly shook me, "Let's get you to bed, yes?"
I mumble something that resembles a yes. He led me up to my room, taking one step at a time. I flung my door open and flopped on my bed.
Evan leaned down and kissed my forehead, and disappeared back downstairs.
-
I woke up the same way I fell asleep, my back ached. My dress was still on, extremely tight, I have lines around my torso from sleeping in it. Last night made me feel happy that I was born i to this lifestyle, being able to dance without a care in the world. My house elf pops into the room "Ma- Ma'am would you like help getting dressed?"
I fixed my collar in the mirror, pinning back my hair from my face. I hate these bangs, I'm never cutting my hair myself again.
My bags have been packed to return to Hogwarts for the past week, I feel like this is going to be a good year.
