Inuyasha Movie 1: Affections Across Time

(A/n: Surprise! I'm doing the movies too! ^v^ I waited until part 3 was finished so you guys can be all-knowing of everything like me. Since the movie timeline will be taking place between chapters 27-28, the reveal hasn't happened yet. Now the movies won't be canon naturally but I will add bits of foreshadowing here and there for the fun of it. I've made quite a bit of changes so reading doesn't become a drag but I made sure to stay in line with the plot. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy! Peace!)

Once upon a time, there lived a priestess rumored to have the power to fulfill a person's greatest desires. Every generation a child is born blessed by the Goddess of Wishes and must live purely in service of the people. Their duty was to grant their every wish and take their offerings. As long as the three golden rules were followed, peace would remain.

1. The priestess must never abandon the village they're meant to protect.

2. The priestess must always remain faithful to her duties and the people.

3. The priestess must never succumb to temptation or selfish desires.

These rules have been established ever since the Goddess made her presence known 500 years ago. A sacred position only qualified for the most selfless and kind-hearted. Yet it was also a lonely duty to fulfill.

No voice to cry out.

No thoughts of their own.

Feelings locked away like a bird in a cage.

The priestess must devote everything to the village. Only then tragedy would be avoided.

No voice...

"Someone..."

No thoughts...

"Help me."

Feelings locked-

"I want to be free."

An anomaly was born.

Tragedy struck.

The village was set ablaze and the priestess was murdered.

Surely it is her to blame. A failure trying to be different.

She should've been replaced the moment she was born.

A cursed half-demon can never understand the woes of the weak and vulnerable.

She did not belong and she never will...

Kagami was sitting under the sacred tree, waiting for her best friend to come back. The others had already left, with Myoga's guidance, to handle a demon that was causing a disturbance in the area. Why was she here instead of going with them? Part of the reason was that she wanted to lead Kagome to where they were when she got back. The other...well she didn't think she would be of use anyway. Her friends were strong and she didn't want to get in their way. She couldn't help but stare off into space, deep in thought as she waited. The mind plagued her with various insecurities, ones that she only revealed when she was on her own.

What is my purpose here?

Being in a new world, it was a common question that popped up in her head from time to time. She leaned back against the tree as she absentmindedly petted the bunny in her lap.

Sometimes I can't help but wonder if I truly belong here. She let out a small sigh. I'm nothing special like Kagome and I'm not particularly strong either. I'm stuck here and I have no idea why.

An outsider. An irregularity hastily added in, changing the course of the story. She didn't mind traveling with everyone but surely that's not all she was meant for...right? Kagami was taken out of her thoughts when she realized how many bunnies were using her as a resting spot. There was even one curled up on top of her head fast asleep. "Hey, my head isn't a nest you know," she muttered with a small pout. However she made no attempts to move them away. They were adorable and it was a nice day to relax. If only her thoughts could follow suit.
