“BOOM” Then the world seemed to go silent. That’s all it took, a single shot.

One night in November, the Shroods family was driving down to Sheerwoods, Washington, during Thanksgiving break ,for Juliet’s birthday which was the next day. In the car was Sean Shroods, his wife Elizabeth, and in the backseat was their 13 year old daughter, Juliet. They were driving down highway 980 when they saw a race going on between a black Porsche and a  blue Mercedes. Sean decided to slow down to get out of the way of the two cars. When a third car came behind them without them noticing, the last thing Sean and Elizabeth heard, was the sound of Juliet’s shriek.

         THREE YEARS LATER

“Juliet! Come down were serving the food! You don’t want to miss out on your turkey!” yelled Juliet’s aunt, Michelle. Juliet came running down the stairs with hair long brown hair curled, wearing a tank top, sweatpants, and her black uggs. Today, Juliet didn’t have the strength to put on her jeans; today was November 23, the anniversary of her parents death. She sat down at the dining room table next to her cousin Jake and Madison, across from her cousins Tyler, Patrick, and Hunter. Her aunt came out of the kitchen with turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes stuffing, biscuits, devilled eggs, green beans, and apple pie. They all said grace and then served themselves. Juliet just took a little bit of turkey and stuffing. She picked at her food and at the end of dinner excused herself before they even cut the pie. Her Aunt asked, “You barely ate anything, are you sure you don't want any pie?” “I’m just not very hungry,” She replied.

Jake gave her a sympathetic look, they all new why she didn’t want to eat, it was the same way on this day every year. She went up to her bedroom and looked at the last picture she had with her parents. It was at the pumpkin patch in October.  It was crazy to see how drastically she had changed; she grown out her short hair so it was now all the way down her back, she’d gotten contacts so you could now see her bright blue eyes, and she was at least 5 inches taller, standing at a height of 5’9”. She fell asleep that night staring at the picture, dreading that her Thanksgiving break was now over and she had to attend school the next day.

She got woken up by Madison the next morning and greeted happy birthday. Even though she was still sad about yesterday, she tried to look her best because it was her birthday. She straightened her hair, worn her Miss Me jeans, white lacy shirt from Forever 21, and her turquoise Vans. She walked down stairs and was paraded with gifts, she received some perfume, yoga pants, makeup, Abercrombie clothes, from her Aunt she received the new iPhone 5, and received a sparkly, pink case with Hunter Hayes (her favorite country singer) form her cousin Hunter. She thanked all of them excitedly and went outside to get the mail.

Looking through the mail, she found a letter addressed to her, she opened it and saw that it was a picture of her and her parents the day driving to Washington, attached to the picture was a note that said, “Meet me at  the corner of West Avenue and Crossroads drive at 12:30,” Juliet was really confused, but hopeful that maybe this mysterious person could help her, considering the police never caught their murderer.
