The next morning I woke up on the floor. Lola and Alex woke up one in the bathroom and the other one on the chair.
"Well what a way to wake up." I say holding my aching head.
"Oh goddamn it." What a hangover Lola spat out.
Alex burst out in laughter. "And look we're still in our dresses."
She was right we we're still in our dresses and I was still in the hoodie. I took it off. I got changed into sweatpants and a crop top on top of my swimsuit.
I brought the hoodie with me to the breakfast. Eva, Tar and Miles we're already sitting. I looked around for Cardan and when I saw him I walk over to him shoving the hoodie in his hand walking past him. He looked back at me as I sat on the edge of the table so I wouldn't have to sit next to them.
We ate pancakes for breakfast. I smothered mine with Nutella and bananas.
It was an awkward moment, no one spoke, Cardan had a scar on his eye and a bruised lip.
After we ate we planned a boat ride to go swim with the dolphins. We had to walk to the other side of the beach to get one of those boats. Miles took advantage of the walk to talk to me. He chased away Lola and Alex in a kind way.
"Listen about last night—" I really didn't want to hear it.
"It's fine you were confused, I was confused. You and me we were just meant to be friends." I answered him even if it hurt to say because I used to have a crush on him, 14 year old me would have loved this.
"I— I wanted to ask for another chance." Before I could turn him down he continued. "But this time I'll take you out on a date and we can figure it out from ther. What do you say?"
I wanted to decline but I didn't want to hurt his feelings so I decided what harm could a date do?
It was a medium boat with a see through bottom and a platform we could sit on that also protected us from the sun. They gave us life vest to use just incase.
I got bored so I asked the guide if I could jump in and he gladly agreed and stopped the boat as I dived in. Everyone rushed to one side of the boat. I think i worried them since I never came back to the surface instead I swam under the boat.
I could hear them calling my name. "Ella." "Ellie."
Soon there was a splash. Miles jumped in followed by the rest. We swam around and then it was time to head back. The sun was setting and I decides to take a short walk alone before I had to head back for my date with Miles.
I walked around and found this kind old man selling cheap ice cream, the line was huge so I bet the ice cream was as delicious.
I stood at the back of the line and it a long time for it to finally be my turn but when it finally was, I ordered 2 scoops then paid. I continued walking down the streets, this city was very lively and filled with people.
When someone popped out of the dark alleyway near me and whispered boo softly in my ear. I froze, I could feel my blood running through my body.
"What are you doing here Cardan?" I ask taking a lick of my ice cream.
He smirked, "I was taking a walk."
"And you though why not ruin my day?" I kept walking with him beside me.
He scoffs and I look at him, he's so perfect, gray eyes, dark curly hair a sharp jawline and his dimples. "Love, your day was never ruined, only mine was."
"Yeah well this whole trip is a mistake." I say, when he leans in and takes a huge bite of my ice cream.
"Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you?" I ask jokingly, then he takes another one. "Ok you know what just take the whole thing." I say giving him the ice cream. "Now that you have the ice cream you can stop bothering me and go get your girlfriend."
He looked down. "What?" I asked.
His smile faded. "It's complicated. Just like you and Miles."
I looked down and he continued. "She isn't my girlfriend, not right now at least."
"What does that mean?" I ask.
"She's got a habit of breaking up with me." He said. "You should probably call your boyfriend, she's probably with him right now. Oh right is he even your boyfriend?"
I open my mouth to speak but before I could he answered in a mocking voice. "I don't know."
"Well we've got a date tonight he wants us to start over." I said.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Really?"
I smiled. "Wanna know the real reason I came here?" He asks.
I nod then he said race you to the beach. When I figured out he wasn't joking I followed him down the street to the beach.
When we got there there was a bonfire and the rest were here and so was another group of good looking teens. The wind was blowing my hair in my face.
"Hey you guys. Just on time we were gonna play spin the bottle." We walked over to them, Cardan wasn't the happy guy he was when we were racing. He wasn't smiling anymore. I sat down between Miles and Lola and Cardan sat next to Eva and another blonde surfer boy.
"So, Ella, this is Brody, Lana, keagan, Lily, Jack, Charles, John, Olivia and Xander." Lola pointed out each one of them.
Alex was up first she spun the bottle and it landed on John. They kissed and me and Lola were so ready to gossip about it tonight.
"Hey I'm sorry about the date tonight but they insisted we came. How'd you know we were here anyway." Miles whispered in my ear.
I answered. "It's ok another time." And I decided to ignore the last part of his question.
"Miles it's your turn to spin the bottle." Alex growled at him.
He spun the bottle and it landed on the worst person possible, Eva. They made out, I think Cardan was right they might have been together lately.
My whole train of thoughts we're interrupted. "Ella right? It's your turn." Olivia told me.
"No it's not." I dont know why I said that.
"Come on Ella." Lola nudged me.
"No really I'll play but I don't want to spin the bottle." I kept a smile on my face, and looked down, everyone was looking at me, I nervously tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
"No fun." Miles said with his lips covered in smothered Prada lipstick.
Cardan was looking at me dead in the eye no smile, his face dark and a cigarette in his hand. "She said she doesn't want spin the fucking bottle." He grabbed the bottle and spun it.
As it slowed down the time passed even slower every second, I'd hopped it landed on Lola but it landed on me. I looked around and everyone was looking at me. Eva was disgusted and Miles was concerned.
"Don't do it Ella." Miles told me.
Cardan scoffed. "Why not, she's not you girlfriend besides you kissed Eva." Miles was angry I could see it.
We stood up and walked to the middle of the circle. He placed his hand on my neck and looked at me.
"I—I have to go." I stepped back and walked back to the house.
