The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the park as Jisoo, Chaeyoung, Lisa, and Jennie enjoyed their weekend afternoon. The park was bustling with activity, kids playing, couples strolling, and the occasional skateboarder zipping by. Lisa, being the adrenaline junkie, had brought her skateboard along, much to Chaeyoung's dismay.
"You should try it, Jisoo!" Lisa said, her eyes gleaming with excitement as she offered the skateboard to Jisoo.
"I don't know, Lisa," Jisoo hesitated, glancing at Chaeyoung who was watching them with a worried expression.
"Come on, unnie!" Lisa insisted. "It's easy. I'll show you."
Jennie chuckled from her spot on the park bench. "This should be interesting."
Jisoo finally relented, giving Chaeyoung a reassuring smile. "I'll be careful," she signed, trying to ease her girlfriend's obvious concern.
Chaeyoung signed back, "Be very careful," her brow furrowed with worry.
Lisa gave Jisoo a quick tutorial on the basics of skateboarding. After a few minutes of wobbling and tentative attempts, Jisoo seemed to get the hang of it. Her confidence grew, and she started moving faster, with Lisa cheering her on.
"That's it, Jisoo! You're doing great!" Lisa called out.
But just as Jisoo began to enjoy the ride, disaster struck.
She hit a small bump in the path, lost her balance, and went flying. She landed hard on her arm, a sharp pain shooting through her.
Chaeyoung's eyes widened in horror. She rushed over, Jennie following more slowly, shaking her head with a mix of amusement and exasperation.
"Jisoo!" Chaeyoung signed frantically, dropping to her knees beside her. "Are you okay?"
Jisoo winced, cradling her arm. "I think it's broken," she signed back, her face pale.
Lisa's face fell as she realized the seriousness of the situation. "Oh my god, Jisoo, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen."
Chaeyoung's worry quickly turned to anger. She stood up and faced Lisa, her hands flying as she signed furiously. "I told you this was a bad idea! How could you be so reckless?"
"Uh Jennie?" Lisa looked over at the brunette.
"She said it was a bad idea and how could you be so reckless." Jennie answered.
Lisa looked stricken, unable to meet Chaeyoung's eyes. "I didn't think she would get hurt. I thought it would be fun."
"Fun?" Chaeyoung signed, her movements sharp and angry. "Jisoo is hurt because of your 'fun'!"
Jennie, who had finally reached them, tried to diffuse the situation. "Okay, everyone, let's calm down. We need to get Jisoo to the hospital."
Chaeyoung shot Jennie a glare but nodded. She helped Jisoo to her feet, supporting her as they made their way to the car. Lisa trailed behind, her shoulders slumped and eyes downcast.
"Looks like you made a park angry." Jennie jokes passing by Lisa.
The drive to the hospital was tense. Jennie drove while Chaeyoung sat in the back with Jisoo, holding her uninjured hand tightly. Lisa sat in the front, silent and guilt-ridden.
"I'm okay Chae." Jisoo tried to smile through the pain, a shot of pain rushes through her arm by each bump in the road.
"See? I'm fine."
"I'll break your arm off if you keep talking."
At the hospital, they were quickly attended to. After a few X-rays and a consultation with the doctor, it was confirmed that Jisoo had a fracture in her arm. They set it in a cast which was purple due to Jisoo's request, and Jisoo was given some pain medication once again, her request.
As they were leaving the hospital, Chaeyoung's anger had not abated. She turned to Lisa, her eyes still blazing. "You need to be more responsible, Lisa. This could have been much worse."
Lisa nodded, tears welling up in her eyes. "I know. I'm really sorry, Chaeyoung. I never wanted Jisoo to get hurt."
Jisoo, still groggy from the pain meds, reached out with her good hand and touched Chaeyoung's arm. "It's okay," she signed slowly. "I'll be fine. It was an accident."
Chaeyoung's expression softened a bit at Jisoo's touch, but she still turned to Lisa. "No more skateboarding for a while. At least not without proper safety gear."
"She said no skateboarding for a while especially without gear." Jennie translated.
Lisa nodded vigorously. "Agreed. No more skateboarding for me. I'm really sorry, Jisoo."
Jennie, who had been watching the whole exchange with a hint of a smirk, spoke up. "Well, at least now you have a good story to tell, right? And Jisoo, you look pretty cool with that cast."
Jisoo chuckled weakly, the pain meds making her a bit loopy. "Yeah, sure. Cool."
They helped Jisoo back into the car, and the drive home was quieter, the tension slowly dissipating. Chaeyoung stayed close to Jisoo, her worry turning into a more manageable concern.
Once they were home, Jennie and Lisa helped Jisoo get settled on the couch with some pillows and a blanket. Chaeyoung disappeared into the kitchen and returned with a cup of tea for Jisoo.
"Thank you," Jisoo said, her voice still soft from the pain.
Chaeyoung kissed her forehead. "Just rest, okay? I'll take care of everything."
As Jisoo drifted off to sleep, Chaeyoung finally turned to Lisa and Jennie. "Thank you for helping. And Lisa, please, no more dangerous activities for a while."
Lisa nodded, her expression earnest. "I promise no more skateboarding"
Jennie rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, let's stick to board games next time. Much safer."
The three friends shared a small laugh, the tension easing further. Despite the accident, they knew they'd get through it together, just as they always did.
