Trigger Warning: Physical Abuse, Rape, and Death
After being shocked three times in one day in electrical trying to fix a panel she had no idea how to fix, since she had no background whatsoever in anything electric, Lacey could not wait to relax.
She wasn't so excited however when she walked into the common room to find Nicky and Lorna watching a documentary on wedding dresses.
Everyone else in the room also seemed to be just as disappointed as to what Lorna had chosen to watch when she had been given control of the TV.
Lacey sat down, not bothering to hide her displeasure. "Really Lorna? Do we really have to watch this?"
Lorna nodded insistently, "Yes, I do. I haven't picked a dress and Christopher said he needed to know which one to order by this weekend."
Lacey almost asked Lorna when Christopher had told her that, since she hadn't heard of a single time that the man had contacted Lorna since she had been here, but she resisted the urge and reluctantly turned her attention to the TV.
It didn't take long for Nicky and Lacey to get distracted gossiping about the new girl who had arrived yesterday though, and Lorna was not having it. "Guys, I sit through your totally unfunny comedy series all the time, can you please just stay quiet while I try and watch something actually important."
Nicky and Lacey looked at each other and chuckled. Their shows were funny to everyone else in the prison except for Lorna, apparently.
They did make an attempt to stay quiet for the rest of the episode, but the two cynical lesbians couldn't help themselves from making faces every time the soft-spoken commentator made a romantic remark about a handsome groom.
When Nicky whispered something into Lacey's ear about most of the men in the show being gay, Lacey couldn't help but laugh loudly. Just as Lorna was turning around to glare at them, Lacey stopped laughing, noticing that the person she hated the most in the prison had just walked in.
When Alex had first started fighting with Lacey, she had hoped that maybe once she had been around long enough for Alex to figure out Lacey actually didn't want to use any of her friends for something else the tall inmate would warm up to her, but she was wrong. Still, everytime Lacey passed Alex in the hall, with or without the company of one of Alex's friends, or even Piper, the black haired woman couldn't help herself from commenting on Lacey's appearance or something she had done recently. According to Alex, anytime Lacey so much as talked to a guard or a new inmate, Lacey was definitely sleeping with them. Lacey had stopped responding to Alex weeks ago, but yet the woman was still relentless.
So when Alex walked into the common room, Lacey braced herself for a remark on her hair or something, but instead Alex strode confidently over to their table with a look of determination.
She was looking straight at Lacey, and Lacey stared back, waiting for what Alex was going to say.
Stopping in front of Lacey, Alex said, her voice bleeding with cruelty, "Hey Lacey, that new inmate from yesterday, Brown? I was thinking, she looks a lot like your mom, you fucked her yet?"
Lacey's whole body stiffened and went numb, the only thing Lacey was able to feel was the scalding hot anger, muting everything else except for her heartbeat in her head. She could only vaguely register the gasps around the room, or her finger nails breaking the skin of her palms, the warm blood pooling underneath her fingernails. It took everything in Lacey not to lunge at Alex then. To punch that satisfied smirk off her face. To knock off her feet and shove her to the ground.
