It was a peaceful night at the headquarters of Your Thing magazine. Just the right amount of rain was falling from the sky to be able to see the rest of Stilesville with all of its glory without letting the weather ruin your way home. However, this wasn't the same type of night that you'd normally assumed. Burdine Maxwell, 45 years old, head writer for her own magazine, style icon, and, of course, reining queen of fashion, had her fair share of undesirable males in the past few years. From a teenage boy who pretended to be 25 to a multi-billionaire who left her ghosted at a hotel to even being abducted by aliens! Luck wasn't near for her. However, this evening was going to be different.
''Stilesville's very first speed-dating...'' She mumbled suspiciously while reading the half ripped pamphlet.
''Yeah, look, I know we haven't had the best relationship between us, but I'm trying to get this better. You changed, Burdine. The Tweevils are gone, you changed the entirety of the magazine to no longer be in competition... we can at least give you that, right?'' Jade, a member of Bratz magazine, a teen magazine that used to be the main competition.
Since then, there has been quite a change in the target audience. Your Thing magazine was now going for a more... mature public. 35+ women. Surprising, isn't it?
''Jade, I can find myself a fine specimen of a man even with my eyes closed. Well, at least one eye is closed. Botox has really done me dirty lately'', Burdine joked while still contemplating the piece of cheaply made paper.
The group of four girls, Jade, Cloe, Sasha and Yasmin, the rest of Bratz magazine, giggled lightly but knew this was another self-deprecating joke. It been now over 15 years since the coordinator has fired Jade from her previous job after giving her the wrong order of food. A burger? Not for her. Back then, the only thing she could think of was greens. It took years for her to be able to digest any other type of food or be able to be less... picky over how she looked. Her parents were very judgmental of physical appearance. She became terrified of carbs to the point she'd develop an eating disorder. Years of rehab to then have to confront them about it to not being able to talk to them nor her sister. It became really isolating.
''Fine, I guess I could give it a try. Men have become so... brutal lately I'm considering going the other way'' she commented
''Hahaha, no that's Roxxi's job'' Cloe replied leaving Burdine confused.
The girls left after some more chitchat. It's nice to be able to find some lovely neighbors that don't want to destroy you at any given chance. After that one afternoon Royale died in the hallway, things changed... for the best and the worse. Strangely enough, Burdine dumped the whole pink thing. She became neutral. Even crazier, she doesn't wear her tiara anymore. Her fake blonde hair are now it's natural auburn shade sprinkled with some gray hair. She is unreconizable. Regardless, she had an even to go to. Next friday, the 7th of October at 6 pm, she was going to find a hunky, sexy piece of meat to have fun with and she won't get her feelings involves... right?
