II: Greed

Beomgyu and Taehyun reached the prince's room. The boys knew so much about each other and especially the older knew how to calm the younger down.

That's probably because they have known each other since the prince was thirteen years old.

Not so long ago, a war broke out. Two of the most big and powerful kingdoms fought each other for a little island, it was full of resources such as gold and crude oil. For its position, it assured the control of the ocean and a lot of trades with Europeans. Let's not forget the ability to reach the opponents' territory so much faster, probably one of the most important advantages.

During war period, Taehyun was only thirteen and, as all little boys do, he wanted to play with his new ball in the garden of his castle.

It was forbidden for him to go out during this period and it wasn't the first time he sneaked out to play in the nature. It was prohibited even if he stayed between the inner borders of the castle.

But he could be a troublemaker for once. Or maybe twice.

His parents added this rule to protect the young prince from soldiers, wild animals and their enemies.

He found the rule dumb. What could have possibly happen to him, if he had numerous troops around him and his castle?

Gullible, young Taehyun, still unfamiliar with the dark and obscure world he was living in.

He kept punting the ball with his feet until, unfortunately, he kicked too hard and it flew above the enclosure of the garden, going on the other side of the walls.

The boy stood still, watching every movement of the flying ball. His mouth wide open in shock. What now?

For fear of getting caught, he decided to act fast.

There was this broken wall, which had a quite big hole. The prince himself broke it some years ago, when he wasn't allowed to visit his younger best friend. So, he could sneak out and go to his house.

Maybe he was still able to pass trough his old, secret exit.

Taehyun bent down and started taking more concrete off the wall, to pass more easily since he grew a lot in those years.

He crawled and successfully got through the enclosure.

As soon as he got up, he walked towards the location of the ball, until he heard noises. His heart started beating faster as it filled with fright the more steps he took. The boy could swear he almost felt it coming out of his chest.

He tried to don't give much thought to the sounds he was hearing, since a lot of animals were around. So, he took a deep breath and kept walking.

The prince arrived at his destination, but his toy wasn't there. He freaked out and instantly regretted going out to play in the first place.

Tears started rolling down his face as he felt extremely guilty for not playing cautiously. What a disappointment, couldn't even take care of a ball... how could he rule a Kingdom, one day?

«Are you looking for this?» He heard a voice and instinctively turned around to look at its owner.

A young boy was opposite to him, he looked around his age, but he was taller than the prince. His clothes were so dirty that you couldn't even see their true color. He had a scratch on his face, which was half-covered by his messy, brown hair. His lips were chapped and a pouty expression lingered on them.
