Ciara got up early and checked on Bo; he was still asleep, and so was Ben. She went to the living room to hang up the Happy Father's Day banner she had made.
Ciara wrapped the gift she got Ben and filled out the card. She went back to the bedroom and placed the gift in her drawer.
Bo started to fuss, so she picked him up and brought him to bed. She placed him on Ben's chest and whispered in his ear.
" Happy Father's Day."
" Mmm, good morning."
" Good morning," Ciara said as she kissed him.
Ben looked down at Bo on his chest and smiled.
" Hey, buddy."
" We have something special planned for you."
" You do?"
" Yep, but you have to get up so I can show you."
Ciara took Bo off his chest so he could sit up.
Ben got up and followed his wife to the living room.
Ben saw the banner and smiled.
" Do you like it?"
" Babe, I love it. Thank you."
" There are more surprises, so go get ready."
After everyone was ready, they walked to the car, and Ciara put Bo in the backseat.
She held up a blindfold and said, " Now it's your turn to wear this."
Ben just laughed and let her put it on him.
Ciara parked the car and helped Ben out before getting Bo. Once Ciara had the carrier on the stroller, she grabbed Ben's hand.
They walked for a while before they stopped.
" Don't take it off yet."
Ben heard Ciara thank someone before they left.
Ciara pulled out a blanket, set it on the ground, and then started setting up the food she had breakfast from the Brady Pub.
" Okay, you can take off the blindfold."
Ben removed it and saw the picnic Ciara set up.
" Breakfast from the Brady Pub?"
" Well, you know I don't cook, so I had it delivered."
" Babe, this is perfect, let's eat."
Ciara placed Bo's carrier on the blanket with them.
" We have eggs, bacon, toast, fruit, coffee, and orange juice."
" This is perfect. Thank you."
Ben kissed her and then started eating.
" Would you like the last strawberry?" Ciara said as she held it up.
Ben leaned over and took a bite, and kissed her.
They stayed at the park for a while before heading home.
Later in the afternoon, Ben was eating a piece of chocolate cake when Ciara walked out and said, " So our little baby, Bo, really wanted to give this to you himself, but he couldn't keep his eyes open for another minute." Ciara said as she placed his gift in front of him.
" Come on. Aw. He's the best."
Ben pulled the card out of the envelope.
" Pancakes?" Ben said as he looked at the card with #1 Dad spelled out in pancakes.
" Mm-hmm," Ciara said as she wrapped her arms around him and kissed his head.
" Oh, my God."
" To Daddy, From Bo. I love you."
" This is some excellent penmanship."
" Mm-hmm."
" I'm assuming he had a little help from Mommy?"
" Eh, yeah, maybe just a little bit."
" A little bit"
" A little bit, yeah."
" Go ahead. Open it. I know you're gonna love it."
Ben took the lid off the box and moved the tissue paper; he pulled out a shirt that read "World's Best Dad" on it.
" Do you like it?"
" I love it. I'm going to put it on right now."
Ben stood up, took off his shirt, and put on the new one.
" What do you think?"
" It's perfect."
Ben pulled her into a kiss and said, "Thank you."
" Would you like some cake?"
" I would love some."
They sat at the table and shared the piece Ben had started. They took turns feeding each other and laughing.
A few hours later, Bo was awake; Ciara fed and burped him. She sat with Ben on the couch and placed Bo in his arms.
" We are running low on diapers. I'm gonna go grab some."
" I can go."
" It's fine, I've got it; I'll be back in a bit."
" Okay," Ben said as he kissed her.
" I'll grab us a pizza on the way home."
" Perfect."
Ciara kissed Ben and Bo before she left.
Twenty minutes later, Ciara returned with diapers and pizza.
Ben had just placed Bo in the bassinet when Ciara walked through the door.
Ciara placed the diapers on the couch and the pizza on the table.
Ben grabbed a couple of sodas and then sat at the table.
Bo was calm in the bassinet, so they sat down and ate before he started to fuss.
When they finished eating, Bo started to fuss. Ciara picked him up and rocked him.
Ben cleaned up and put the leftovers in the fridge.
" Little man needs a change."
" I've got him."
" Make that a bath and a new onesie," Ciara said with a laugh.
" Do we have an explosion?"
" We do."
" Let's go clean you up."
" Is this how you thought your first Father's Day would be?"
" Nope, but I wouldn't change anything about this day. Being with you and our son; that's all I need.
After they cleaned Bo up, they all snuggled together on the couch.
Ben had the perfect first Father's Day.
