One evening, as Shubman and Nithya lounged on the couch in their shared hotel room, Nithya mentioned the fanfics that cricket fans often wrote about their favourite players. Intrigued, Shubman turned to her with a curious expression.
"So, tell me more about these fanfics," Shubman prompted, his interest piqued. "What do they write about?"
Nithya chuckled, adjusting her position on the couch as she prepared to elaborate. "Well, it varies," she began, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Some fans imagine alternate storylines for matches, while others focus on the personal lives of the players."
Shubman raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in his gaze. "Personal lives, huh?" he mused. "What kind of stories do they come up with?"
Nithya grinned, knowing that Shubman was about to get a glimpse into the more eccentric side of fandom. "Oh, you wouldn't believe some of the things I've read," she teased, her tone playful.
"There are stories about secret romances, hidden talents, and even supernatural abilities."
Shubman's eyebrows shot up in surprise, a mixture of amusement and incredulity crossing his features. "Seriously?" he exclaimed, unable to hide his amusement. "I had no idea fans got that creative."
Nithya nodded, a smile playing on her lips as she recalled some of the more outlandish fanfics she had come across. "It's all in good fun," she reassured him, reaching out to gently squeeze his hand. "But some of them can be quite entertaining."
Shubman couldn't resist the opportunity to tease Nithya further. With a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, he leaned in closer, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
"So, have you read any fanfics about me?" he asked, his tone teasing but genuinely curious.
Nithya's cheeks flushed with a rosy hue as she shifted slightly on the couch, feeling the weight of Shubman's playful gaze. "Um, well," she stammered, her voice betraying her embarrassment.
"Maybe a few..."
Shubman's grin widened at her reaction, finding her flustered response utterly endearing. "Oh, really now?" he teased, a hint of amusement lacing his tone. "I'm intrigued. What kind of stories do they come up with about me?"
Nithya bit her lip, feeling a mixture of amusement and embarrassment at the prospect of discussing the fanfics she had come across. "Well, there's everything from dramatic match-winning performances to, uh, more... imaginative scenarios," she replied vaguely, trying to downplay the more scandalous aspects.
Shubman chuckled, leaning back against the couch cushions as he watched Nithya squirm under his teasing gaze. "I'll have to read some of them myself some time," he remarked casually, though the twinkle in his eyes hinted at his eagerness to see what kind of stories fans had concocted about him.
Nithya let out a nervous laugh, her cheeks still tinged with a hint of pink as she playfully nudged Shubman's arm. "Oh, please," she teased, trying to deflect the conversation away from the fanfics. "Let's not even go there. Trust me, you're better off not knowing."
