The room was buzzing with conversations of plans for the upcoming holiday. Nova's head laid against her desk silently counting down the minutes to the end of the school day. Hearing the click clack of heels from their teacher Mrs. Madden caused the class to finally quite down a bit as to not get into trouble from the very strict history teacher. "ok class i understand everyone is excited for Halloween so I've decided to honor the spooky spirit with your homework" Mrs.Madden states with her usual monotone voice. A unanimous groan errupted across the classroom leading to a eye roll from the teacher.
Nova rolled her eyes at the thought of having homework to do during the 3 day long break granted for the holiday. Half listening she managed to catch the gist of the assignment. Her interest being peaked upon hearing that the assignment was a 2 page essay to be written about the infamous Salem witch trials. Despite being born and raised in Salem, Massachusetts the topic of the witch trials was very rarely a point of conversation much less a theme for a essay in school. The ringing of the bell signaling the end of the school day snapped Nova out of her thoughts and ideas for her essay for once being excited to begin on a homework assignment. Hurrying to the bus and being quick to send a text to her dad about her whereabouts for the rest of the day, time very quickly passes by before the bus drops her off a mere 2 minutes from the towns library
Stepping off of the bus Nova begins to walk the rest of the way. Walking into the library breathing in the scent of old books and dust. Quickly making her way to the computers Nova begins to do a search of the library catalog for any book about the witch trials. A sigh of disappointment leaving her lips as she realizes that somehow all the books she could use have been checked out before her, however determined to find something to aid her in the essay writing she comes across a book titles "Diary of Elizabeth Ann" interest piqued she begins to read the description. Determining she could use the book, Nova sets out to find the diary to which she very quickly does. Upon grabbing the book off the shelf Nova very quickly noticed the difference from the other books around it. While the others are big and picture filled, the book in Nova's hands contrasted with the fact that it was skinny and zero pictures very much resembling that of a classic diary. Skimming through the book Nova quickly heads to the counter to check out the book.
After checking out Nova quickly makes a phone call to her dad in order to get a ride home. After confirming her location, Nova locates a table by the door and begins reading. Before she knows it she receives a text from her dad informing her that he was right outside. Running out she hops into her dads car, and soon they were off.
Finally home she quickly rushes up to her room eager to get the paper done and have a relaxing 3 day weekend off. Putting her backpack down she quickly settles into her bed and begins reading with a notebook next to her to write ideas for her essay. Given how small the book was finishing it was a easy task. Before she knew it, it was time to go to bed. Putting the stuff away she is quick to settle in.
