Karkat had been staying at Dave's house for two months, ever since Terezi burned down his hive during a Sgrub session. Initially, Dave and Karkat were dating, but Dave had begun to develop feelings for other girls without letting Karkat know.
In the present:
Dave: "Hey Karkat, I'm gonna hop on Fortnite with the gang, okay, babe?"
Karkat: "OKAY, BUT DON'T BE TOO LONG. I WANNA WATCH A MOVIE WITH YOU!"
Dave hops on Fortnite on his PlayStation 5, which he had to stop Bro Strider from throwing out the window. Karkat hears Dave giggling as his phone repeatedly goes off. Feeling confused and suspicious, Karkat decides to check Dave's phone.
He grabs Dave's phone and sees over 20 notifications from "Terezi, my love" and "Jade, my side hoe <3."
Karkat is furious and drops down to his knees in his bedroom, devastated. He begins to cry, his candy-red tears hitting the floor. All he can think about is grabbing the dull blade that has been sitting in his drawer for months. He doesn't want to relapse, but this might be his breaking point.
Tears well up in his eyes as he grabs the shirt that Dave had lent him. He is incredibly heartbroken; he loved Dave more than anything.
Dave walks into the room soon after, carelessly, with no clue in the world that Karkat had just found out his dirty little secret.
