Chapter 1
"This is it babe. Can you believe it?" my husband Jon asked me. His blue eyes sparkled with wonder and excitement as we stood in front of our new house.
I smiled, "Yes honey, I'm so happy!" He grinned and kissed me on my cheek.
"Eww, mommy and daddy!" our 5 year old son exclaimed and we both laughed.
"What Brynn? Daddy is just glad that we have a new home!" Jon said as he tickled him. Brynn's laughter filled the yard as Jon started chasing him around. I couldn't help but laugh at how cute his sandy brown hair looked as it flopped all over his head as he ran, his eyes shining just like his daddy's.
"Okay guys! It's time to get this stuff inside," I said. Both boys looked at me and replied, "Aw man!"
"Don't ya'll aw man me! If you work hard enough, I'll make my famous PB&J sandwiches that you love so much Brynn."
He smiled, "Okay mommy! Daddy c'mon, I don't wanna miss the PB&J!" while pulling Jon's arm.
We all walked over to the U-Haul truck and Jon gave Brynn some small items to carry inside. I took a moment to take in my surroundings. Our new neighborhood was so peaceful and sunny. There were shady trees in most of the yards and the well manicured lawns were quite pleasing to the eye. As I walked up the steps to the porch, I imagined myself sitting out there with my boys while sipping some sweet tea and laughing.
"Uh babe, are you gonna unlock the door?" Jon asked.
"Oh sorry, I was just admiring the porch."
I unlocked the door and we all walked inside on to the wood floors. There was a coat closet to the left of me and on the right was a small sitting area – I would definitely be getting some reading done there.
Jon said, "Alrighy buddy, take what I gave you upstairs and I'll be right there okay?"Brynn nodded and made his way up the stairs.
As I stepped into the kitchen, my husband came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
"I'm so glad the movers brought in all the big furniture yesterday. We just gotta get the lamps and other small stuff," he said.
"Yeah, I'll be glad when it's all finished. I think we only have one room that needs to be painted right?" I asked.
"Yes, Brynn keep talking about how he can't wait to have blue walls," Jon replied.
I smiled, "Babe this is such a dream come true. I mean, who would have thought that we'd be here?"
He turned me around, "I did. And with our 7th year anniversary coming up, this is the best gift ever."
I sat on the kitchen island and he stood in front of me while tracing circles on my chocolate skin, causing me to shiver. I knew what he was thinking as he started eyeing me seductively.
"So now that we have a bigger place, maybe we could start on that little princess that you always talk about."
I ran my hands through his hair and said, "Sure, but first we gotta get the stuff out of the truck."
Jon leaned into me and started to kiss me passionately.
"It can wait," he said in between kisses. My legs automatically wrapped around his waist as the kiss deepened.
"Babe," I said.
"Yes dear," I responded bringing soft pecks onto my jaw and neck.
"I'm pretty sure Brynn is waiting for you upstairs," I said.
