Amy: I think it has been previously established that the Edo period is also the shitiest time to be alive filled with corrupt politicians and crime you'd have to be dumb enough to even attempt to put these kinds of people in check or kill them if you can't.
Peach: Funny enough that's exactly the case for Yamada Asaemon Sagiri.
Amy: Yeah if there's one word if I have to describe this woman's life it's problematic.
Peach: Sagiri was born as the heiress of the Yamada clan which may seem pretty normal until you find out that the Yamada clan is a clan associated with death no matter what path they choose.
Amy: And Sagiri got to see death first hand when her father literally beheaded a criminal.
Peach: Normally this is the part normal girl like her would just turn around and just live a normal life and forget what she saw.
Amy: But nah Sagiri said "fuck normal life, Imma become an executioner so I can execute the shit out of people."
Peach: This turned out to be quite difficulty since at that point she faced harsh treatment from her entire life. Ranging from angry bullies who threw rocks at her simply for being apart of the Yamada clan even though she did nothing wrong at that point.
Amy: And even during training she was looked down upon by her fellow Yamada Asaemon members just because she's simply a woman even by her own father. Damn sexist much.
Peach: But that is simply the path she chose as no matter what the truth is always reflected on the blade.
Amy: You know of dear old dad and several others really didn't want Sagiri to become a sword slaying executioner who kills death row convicts than maybe don't show her an execution happening at first hand cause last I check that can do serious damage to a child.
Peach: Not like that's going to stop her from honing in on her skills. As a member of the Yamada clan, Sagiri is a master at kenjutsu which is basically swordsmenship and as an executioner of said clan she is capable of beheading opponents in quick succession without the reliance on pain she can also sense what a person is feeling in their final moments right before their deaths.
Amy: Despite being a low ranking member Sagiri is so fast she can disarm an opponent in the blink of an eye without anyone noticing.
Peach: She's also later on learned how to use Tao. A life force energy that can be found in every living and non-living thing. It can be manifested and used to increase the beings various abilities.
Amy: Wait a second is this another lame ass power system.
Peach: Uhh no not really it seems totally fine to me.
Amy: Eh, if I had a nickel for everytime we have an anime character use a weird power system I'd have two nickels strange how it happened twice.
