I never thought I would host a baby shower. In fact, I never even imagined I would be pregnant to begin with. Yet here I was, greeting guests with my excited mother-in-law as I awaited the big reveal of the gender of my baby.

"Is everything okay?" Daniel asked as he stood beside her. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I huffed, sending a glare to Mrs. Sage. My mother-in-law may have been a lot more tolerable now than she used to have been, but she was still very demanding and a total nightmare to work with when it came to big events such as this baby shower.

"Why wouldn't things be okay?" Mrs. Sage asked her son. I rolled eyes but turned on the charmers to greet the next guest anyway.

"Danny boy!"

"River!" Daniel greeted his friend with a bear hug. They proceeded to have a conversation that did not interest me so I turned my attention towards the woman who had arrived with him.

I wasn't too familiar with Daniel's friends but I was familiar with River and his fiancé Azra because they had been our marriage certification witnesses.

"You look stunning!" Azra beamed as she pulled me into a hug. I still wasn't comfortable with hugs but Azra seemed like a sweetheart and I didn't want to offend her so I did not push her away.

"Thank you. As do you!"

I spoke with Azra for a short while longer before my eyes landed on the one friend who I happened to meet often but still hadn't been introduced to: The snitch who worked at the restaurant.

"Benny!" Daniel and River greeted their friend.

"Why does she look like she wants to kill me?" he asked Daniel under his breath, looking terrified.

To be fair, I too would be scared if I held the wrath of a pregnant woman.

Daniel chuckled in response before he forced his friend towards me.

"I believe you two have met multiple times," he said, forcing his friend to stand in front of me. "But you haven't yet been introduced."

"Yes, I know the snitch."

River and Daniel stifled a laugh but Benny looked petrified.

"This is Benjamin Christensen," Daniel introduced. "He is the owner of the restaurant, Good Soup."

Benjamin gulped as he held his hand for me. I wasn't sure how scary I looked in that moment, but judging by the fact that he flinched when I grabbed his hand, I couldn't have looked too kind.

"Isabella," I introduced myself, not letting go of his hand.

"N-Nice to meet you."

"I like you," I told him, finally letting go.
