Boston sat himself down at a nice table at a cozy cafe. The new one that just recently opened, to be specific. He sort of motioned for Amber to sit in front of him.
"You don't even like coffee, do you?" Amber asked upon sitting. It was odd he was going to a cafe with her when he'd probably never even tried coffee.
"I dunno.." He started, getting deep into thought. He knew he couldn't try coffee, but he really did want to eventually give it a try some day. Even with how sick he knew it would get him.
"How about you try it this time? I'll pay!" Amber really did want him to finally try something. It worried her with how little he consumed overall.
"Oh. Uhm.." Boston had to think of a lie, and fast. He was usually quick with his lies, being how he had to lie to pass as a normal human every day, but this one just.. Didn't really want to slip out. Amber was silent, awaiting his response, but nothing came out. He just hung his head in shame.
"What's wrong, darling?" She asked- the pet name in an attempt to mimic Boston's habit of using pet names.
"Hey, only I can use the pet names." Immediately he raised his head, trying to brush off his lack of lies. Amber giggled and rested her hand on his head.
"Honeybee~" She teased.
"No!" Boston started to blush. He didn't like to be teased,
not even when it was something so trivial. He put his head down on the table in sheer embarrassment. Amber laughed, and ran a hand through his hair. "And you can't do that either..." He muttered.
"Well. I can. Because I'm your best friend and that's what best friends do!" She continued to laugh in triumph. She muttered something quickly after. A pro of having good ears; you can pick things up.

And she muttered something that Boston swore she didn't say, which was the following.

"I wish I was something more to you."

After the cafe, Boston and Amber were back on the streets trying to figure out what to do next.
"I mean, we could always head over to Mabscott to see what they have there.." Boston suggested. Mabscott was the neighboring town. Amber shook her head.
"No, no, because that's a walk that I'm not willing to take. Way too long." Amber wasn't exactly the most athletic person, despite being in volleyball. She hated even going up the stairs for school. Boston got an idea as he looked over at Amber with a certain look on his face that told her that he got an idea.. And it wasn't a good one.
"I could carry you bridal style~" He suggested flirtatiously. Amber blushed at first, clearly liking the idea, before getting some sense and shaking her head hastily.
"Oh, no no.. That's disgusting.." She buried her head in her hands bashfully. Boston couldn't help but grin.. But he was grimacing inside.
"Disgusting?" He questioned playfully. "Now how in the world would that be disgusting?" He made Amber look up at him, just like in his short daydream. She jerked away again.
"It's.. I don't.. I don't know, it's just.. I'm not really supposed to like you like that." She brought her attention back to Boston. "You must understand right?"
"Now, Amber.." He started to blush. "You gotta understand what I said was.. A thing called a joke?" Boston liked to pass his flirting as jokes. But he genuinely meant the sweet things he said to Amber. He really, really, loved that girl. But he knew as a monster, he couldn't. That was gross. That was disgusting. A beast loving a girl like that.
"Y-Yeah I knew that." She said, gaining a little bit more confidence in her voice. "I was just adding on to the joke." She brought herself to say, a smile growing back onto her face If only he knew, Amber thought.

"Whatcha lookin at?" Denis asked, peeking from the bunk bed above. It startled Boston as he quickly stuffed the book under the pillow. He didn't want Denis to see... He couldn't imagine what sarcastic comments would be made about it.
"Nothing." He said sweetly, with a passive 'I'm not hiding anything' smile. Denis made a sound of doubt and got under Boston's pillow with his tail. "Wh- Hey!"
"Well, well. Call this nothing.." Denis started to sift through the book. His eyes widened when he saw a bunch of pictures from the human realm. Green grass. Blue skies. Humans. Flowers.
"Give that back man! I kinda need that!" Boston reached for it from below, embarrassed by that special book of his. Denis laughed and shook his head.
"Nah dude this is golden! What even is this?!" Denis turned the book around to get a good look at it from all angles. He had never been on the human realm so he never knew what it looked like.. He didn't even know what he was looking at!
"It's- None of your business! Give it back!" Boston climbed up on the top bunk angrily and tried to get it out of Denis' hands. Denis just laughed maliciously and expanded his wings to fly.
"I'll give it back if you catch me!" He lifted off of the mattress and stayed in the air where Boston couldn't reach. "C'mon! You can do it!" He teased, knowing that Boston was tall, but not tall enough to reach him.
"Denis! Stop being such a moron and just give it!" It was hard to make Boston mad. Boston was very passive and tried not to get too angry, but having his things taken away just was another level for him. He reached, and even tried to sit on his tail to elevate himself. He finally got some sense, and used his dark magic to get it away from Denis.
"Hey I thought that only Kai could do that!" He exclaimed, shocked by the use of shadow abilities. The mention of his name woke the very drowsy Kai up.
"What about me?" Kai said tiredly, rubbing his eyes. "And please, guys, keep it down? You won't let me sleep in for an hour.. You've been bickering back and forth all night."
"First off that's not true," Denis started.
"YES IT IS!" Boston interrupted, feeling a little agitated by the fact that they had in fact been bickering all night. Denis just found himself to be pretty loud and energetic during times he wasn't supposed to be. "Like Denis, I love you man, but for the love of gosh please just let me sleep!"
"Second off, Boston's off lookin' at this... I don't even know what this is." Denis took it again and held it up to show Kai the book. Kai squinted, before he reached for his glasses to get a better look. He gasped when he saw it.
"Boston, where did you get this?!" Kai jumped up and took it out of Denis' hands. Boston's ears went down as he tensed up slightly. Kai knew what it was.
"Human realm pictures..." Boston sighed, looking a bit ashamed of it. Kai smiled and walked over to him, and gave it back gently.
"I think we may need to have a talk later." Kai said passively, patting the book on the cover. "I know plenty about the human realm."
"What even is the "human realm"?" Denis asked, interrupting the one on one conversation that Boston and Kai were having. Both boy's attention snapped back to Denis, sharing a similar look.
"Nothing you should be concerned about." They both said at the same time, knowing Denis probably would just be either scared or in disbelief, as he didn't believe in humans too much. He was rather afraid of them.
"Fine..." Denis huffed, crossing his arms angrily and looking away. Boston and Kai grinned at each other. They knew exactly what they planned to do that next day.

"So! Mabscott it is!" Boston said with a cheery tone to his voice. Amber looked back up at Boston, the blush remaining on her face.
"If you can carry me. Not bridal style. Then yes." She finally came up with a decision. Boston beamed with joy as he scooped her up and held her like a child. Boston was tall. So it was pretty easy for him to handle her like that. Amber's face flushed.
"Oh I hate this.." She whimpered, burying her face in her hands. Boston laughed, looking down at her.
"I love it~" He said flirtatiously, mostly joking. Although there was some truth to that statement.
"Okay. Okay. Yeah.. maybe I love it too.." Amber looked back up at Boston with a warm smile. "Let's head out."

Boston walked for a good distance with Amber in his arms. She was incredibly impressed with his strength and how he was able to bear her weight for so long.

"Boston, I have a question.." Amber started as they were walking. Boston didn't stop moving. He just made a 'mhm' sound as he went on to signify he was listening. "How are you able to hold me for this long? I mean I must be pretty heavy." Amber looked down at her stomach and held it in a way that she thought she might've had a bit of pudge. Boston stopped.
"Hold on, are you suggesting you're fat?" He asked with a hint of shock to his voice. Amber nodded sadly.
"I think I eat too much.. All the girls at school call me fat anyway.." She frowned and her eyebrows furrowed. "I just wish I was skinnier. For my crush."

Boston didn't like the sound of Amber having a crush one bit. His face turned pale as he blushed.
"Oh... you're not fat, darling." He said, trying to cover up his sheer disappointment as he realized Amber had a crush. Amber made a saddened sound.
"Sure I am... I even stopped eating to make sure I don't get any fatter." She tensed up like a turtle backing into its shell. Boston shook his head and held her up right.
"No honeybee. You're the scrawniest little thing I've ever seen. And so pale.." He grew a saddened look, looking at Amber and how poorly she took care of herself. Boston wasn't lying when he said that Amber was scrawny. She was scrawny. He didn't understand how those girls could call her fat! She was nothing but!
"I just.. I don't know. My crush.. He's so cute. He's skinny, and muscular.. And in such good shape. Every time I see his muscles I can't help but blush." She looked aside for a moment, blushing. "I wish I was as good looking as him."
"Darling.." Boston started, his gaze softening. "No.. You don't need to compare your beauty to anyone. Amber, you're honestly the prettiest girl I know. If anything, you're too skinny. I'm worried about you with how little you eat." He caressed her cheek gently, moving some hair out of her face so he could get a better look at her. "Just trust me, dear. You are seriously one of the prettiest girls in the school. And in my eyes? The prettiest girl in this world." Amber froze after he finished.
"Boston..." She started, tearing up. "I- I'm sorry to say it.." She trailed off. Boston looked interested as to what she was going to tell him.
"What is it darling? There's no reason to be sorry for telling me anything.."
There was a pause.

Nothing but the sounds of leaves rustling and the birds chirping could be heard. Amber looked terrified to say it, blinking back tears. Before she quickly yelled out;
"YOU'RE MY CRUSH!"

Boston was stunned. Too stunned to speak. His eyes widened as he released a gasp. Amber.. The prettiest girl in the whole school.. Liked him! The monster! Satan's son! The demon! He just couldn't believe it. Amber looked at him, studying his facial expression, trying to figure out if he liked the thought or disliked it.

"Amber..." He started, trying to gather his words, before taking a deep breath. "I- I love you too.." He half-whispered, looking her directly in her blue eyes. She faltered... but she smiled weakly.
"..You mean it?" She asked in a hushed tone. Boston smiled sweetly and nodded.
"Yes, I do.. It's been hard to hide the fact.." He brought Amber into a hug. "Let me just assure you.. I'm gonna take really good care of you, my dear." Amber wiped the tears from her eyes and her frown melted away. She clung onto Boston tightly, enjoying every second of being in his warm embrace.
"I don't doubt that fact.." She whispered, looking up at him with doe eyes.
The two took a second, gazing at one another's beauty, before somehow, someway... Their lips collided. It was a moment of bliss for both of them.
