"Us?!" Amber was a bit shocked with this information. "It would make more sense if you said you, but me too?! What can I do?! I'm just a 13 year old girl!"
"Well your dad is in the club isn't he?" Kai asked, making sure of his general knowledge that he was recalling from information Boston gave him earlier. Amber nodded.
"Yeah... I don't- How do you know this stuff??"
"Doesn't matter. What matters is finding a plan to save Boston."
"But how?! I mean you're asking a 13 year old girl to go on... some sort of... heist mission!" She paused for a moment. "At least... I think this would be considered a heist..."
"I don't know what this would be considered, but it won't be just us. I have some friends helping us out. Coast is clear!" Kai motioned for some people to come out, and 2 other creatures came out of their hiding. One a white mouse, the other a cardinal.
"God, it's almost like you're the lacey equivalent of Snow White..." Amber alluded while observing the animals.
"I don't know what that is. Anyway, Denis, Fia, show yourselves please."
The mouse and bird changed the same way Kai did. The mouse became a very tall white lacey who wore a light blue hoodie and dark navy sweatpants. The air lacey had fairly big dragon-like wings that initially spread out upon his form change. He had gray medium length shaggy hair and two white horns. On the end of his tail, which was a lot like Boston's, was a cloud. Unlike Boston and Kai's noses, which were catlike, this lacey's nose was more reptilian.
The bird changed into a still fairly tall red lacey female, with longer hair and dark red horns. Her nose was like that of a reptile's. She wore a black revealing crop top and extremely short shorts. Her tail had a flame at the end of it.
"Your outfit is... cute...?" Amber said unsurely, looking the red female up and down.
"Thanks." She replied confidently. Amber could tell this red lacey was not the nicest.
"So," Kai started, looking from the white lacey, the red lacey, and Amber. "Amber, this is Fiamette and Denis. They will help us save Boston."
"Wait wait, that's what we're doing? I thought we were here to visit him." Denis said stupidly, wearing a confused expression. Fia and Kai exchanged an annoyed look.
"Anyway." Kai started with a clearing of his throat, "First, we need to get Amber out of school. Because she can get in mega trouble if she's caught sneaking out of class."
"Right. Like how I'm probably in mega trouble for skipping right now!!" She exclaimed, frustrated with Kai's endeavors.
"Relax, I thought about this in advance, and I know just how to get you out with an excuse. Which of us is able to imitate a human parent the best?"
"Not Denis." Fia huffed with a roll of eyes. Denis grew an offended look.
"I can! Why wouldn't I be able to?"
"Because you're a dumbass. That's why." She replied with a snarl.
"Guys, save this for later! Boston could be dying for all we know! Although I do agree with Fia..."
"KAI!"
"Quiet! You'll attract humans..." He muttered, looking around dubiously for anybody who may be nearby.
"Well if we're being serious, you'd be best for the role." Fia started, before she realized something. "Maybe not. You're a midget."
"I- We- No time for fighting! Whatever, yes, I'm short, so I'll have to stand on somebody's shoulders."
"What? Are you kidding? What kind of plan is that?!" Despite Kai always being the one who was good with plans, Denis didn't think this one was very smart.
"The only hope we have to save Boston, that's what. Denis, how about you be the body and I'll be the head."
"Me?! Why me?! I can't hold your heavy body!" There was a pause. Denis then curiously lifted Kai up to see how heavy he was. "Well, nevermind, you're very light. But still!" He put him down.
"Just stop being a baby and figure this out with me. I want you to become shorter."
Silence for a moment.
"Shorter, Denis." Kai repeated. With a sigh, Denis became a few feet shorter.
"You guys can do that?!" The laceys forgot Amber was even there for a moment so they all looked startled, but it wasn't long until they returned back to their senses.
"Yes, we can do that. Now Denis. Let me up." Kai began to approach Denis, shapeshifting into a human. His human form wasn't much like Boston's. Kai had very pale skin, almost like that o a vampire's, and jet black hair.
"Hold on, if you can just change your height, why don't you make yourself taller?" Amber noted, thrown off by why Kai needed to use Denis as a step-stool.
"I can't go any taller than my actual height. No lacey can. Maybe in a more animalistic form, but definitely not one of a humanoid form. Now Denis, get down." Kai motioned downwards.
Denis crouched down so Kai could climb up, and Kai got on his back piggyback style. Denis stood up straight.
"Amber, does this look like your average human adult?" Kai asked from above. Denis looked rather fed up.
"Why do I have to be the step stool?! I can talk just as smoothly as you can!" He exclaimed, his tail swishing from side to side angrily.
Kai rolled his eyes in response, knowing very well that most certainly wasn't true.
"Gosh, this is like something straight out of a cartoon." Amber started sarcastically. "Umm... Yeah. Other than the fact that you two are kinda stacked up on each other." She shrugged. "I mean, you could look a bit older, Kai."
"Older? How fast do you humans age?" Kai asked, astonished. Laceys didn't age very fast, and didn't show physical aging until the age range of 6000-7000.
"Well, if you're trying to pass as a parent or guardian of sorts, you have to at least be like... dunno, 40?"
"40 is so young to be taking care of a kid." Fia commented, observing her claws, which were painted hot pink. She sort of snarled seeing some of it chipped.
"Um... No... 40 is kind of like- really old..." Amber replied with a confused tone to her voice.
"Ah. I remember, humans don't age like we do. They live to a hundred. Or, eighty, to be precise." Kai informed with a smug know it all grin. He'd read all about the human realm when Boston first showed interest in moving up there. He even helped Boston learn more about it.
