Julie's been acting weird recently. Ever since we've been able to touch, I've been sort of eager to hug her or casually touch her, because that's what I do with my friends, right? Since we weren't able to have any physical contact at all, now that we can, I want to make the most of it.
She doesn't seem to agree.
Every time I hug her, touch her arm, even gently shove her, she acts all weird. She looks away quickly and practically runs off.
So, I may have decided to snoop in her room. I know, boundaries. But I just really want to know why she's being weird with me. The only issue, I can't find anything. So I'm thinking, there's one place she might have put something that'd explain it. Only, if she finds out that I looked through it, she'd find a way to kill a ghost.
Her dream box.
I can see it up on her shelf, it's right there. I want to look through it so badly.
"Screw it, I'm going through it." I whisper to myself before grabbing the box off her shelf and sitting on her bed to look through it.
There's a few stuff I've seen before, the last time I snuck into her room to look through her dream box, but there's also some new stuff. Her poetry has moved onto proper songs now since she's alright with music again.
One of them catches my eye though, it's called "Perfect Harmony," which could be about many things.
Not really. I can already tell it's a love song. Just by the name, I mean, what other song could it be?
So, obviously, I put everything else down and start reading it. Don't blame me, who wouldn't read a love song that one of their closest friends wrote?
I don't have time to read through it carefully, so skimming it is. But certain parts catch my eye.
Like, it's immediately clear it's a duet, the start being sung by a guy, obviously.
Step into my world
Bittersweet love story 'bout a girlIt's the first two lines, and it's clear this wasn't just for fun. This song is about someone, it's about Nick.
Then we get to the Pre-Chorus, Julie actually marks off things like that on her work, I never remember to. She marks each verse or chorus, and when the person singing changes. She's marked this as both.
The truth is finally breaking through
Two worlds collide when I'm with you
Our voices rise and soar so high
We come to life when we're[Chorus]
In Perfect Harmony
Woah, Woah
Perfect Harmony
Woah, Woah
Perfect HarmonyPerfect harmony. She really loves him. I can't help but get this weird feeling in my chest, like my heard dropped. I don't even have a heart. I skip to the next pre-chorus.
We say we're friends, we play pretend
You're more to me, you're everything
Our voices rise and soar so high
We come to life when we'reI feel almost panicked, it's weird. I don't know why, but the idea that Julie wrote a song like this about Nick hurts. I was hoping maybe it was just something she wrote for fun, but it's obvious that it's written about someone she loves. And she loves Nick.
With that feeling in my chest, I just skim over the rest, not paying much attention anymore. I've been avoiding admitting it, but I think I really like Julie. Reggie and Alex were right, and I mildly hate them for it.
