Kaden did not call.

He showed up on our doorstep on Monday evening.

"Could we talk?" I take my jacket, put on my shoes and we walk downstairs.

"I have something I need to tell you." We walk down to the summer theater area and sit on a bench. I see Kaden is nervous, but I knew I had to wait it out.

"Me and Hannah..." He slips into silence again. It lasts so long that I decide to go for it,

"Are you trying again?" I ask and give an encouraging smile. He nods and I see how he blushes a little.

"It's okay. I get it." I take his hand into mine and squeeze it.

"Thomas said something about you two yesterday. Said you two would like to talk to me about something."

"Oh, Thomas and I have not spoken since that night. I think he wanted to wait till you figured things out with Hannah." His eyes darken a little and he nods, "You know he would have left me alone if you decided the other way, right?"

"He always said he likes you, but that I shouldn't worry about it."

"I had a feeling, but he never said anything" I sigh and inhale through my nose realizing it smells like rain. I look up at the sky and the clouds are gathering above us.

"Thank god we're getting water." I heard him say quietly and I couldn't agree more. It has been the driest summer yet.

"So..." I turn to him and raise my eyebrows in question, "Friends?"

"Friends."

I think it took a couple days after that for Thomas to show up at my work, the bookstore.

"I don't have your phone number." He mumbles shyly and I remember I looked at him confused then burst into laughter.

"That would explain..."

"Why I haven't actually called. Yeah."

"Yea, it is an excellent excuse." I admit and we grin at each other.

"When are you finishing today?" Thomas asks and looks around the store, curiously.

"In a couple of hours." I stare at him, trying to be subtle about it of course.

"I'll pick you up." He says and winks at me, "So you can stare at me more." The blush rushes to my cheeks and I hide my face behind my hands.

He had this crooked smile, which I found quite sexy. And he wore a cap in a way that his hair hung slightly in front of his eyes. He usually wore baggy jeans and a jumper. Reason why I had not actually seen him before was simply because he had already finished highschool when I started. And now I had to figure out what I felt for him. To see if he would dare to make any kind of move on me. Because back then, it was the boy who made a move on me, dear lord if I had to and it would end up not happening at all.
