To debut was a dream only the middle and lower classes dared to dream about. Their grandeur was felt throughout society. The city was prepared to hold back citizens from trying to enter. Roads were blocked to separate the classes.
To debut meant to be perfect.
And Jay?
Jay didn't know how to feel about his debut.
His mother rushed to get him prepared.
His dad rushed to rearrange the arrangements set years behind due to the development.
They weren't prepared for presentation of his second gender.
Clearly, they were preparing for an Alpha. As if his contracts with certain companies didn't give him the know. Or when he walked with his parents they always pointed to more rough housing, even if he prefered other activities. As if everything he ever did pointed to becoming the heir of the household name.
His mother's name.
An alpha.
As if the books in the making were pointing at a future where he would lead the company to a brighter future. Where he would be in Soobins place, a natural leader. Someone who takes charge. A fully bloomed rose.
Where books and front covers didn't try to strip him in every cover. Picked rashly. As if his mother would let that thought even fester, they wouldn't let that happen in any universe.
He called it climbing up the social ladder. Something for people who live beneath. There was no need when they were already at the top.
To debut was the norm not the exception.
Books and magazines of past debuts wrote of how magnificent it all was. How calculated they were, or how amazing everything looked.
The glitz and glamor, of real gold, of real splendor.
His was last minute but he couldn't help it. For he was just a child. Then wondered if his would even be of the same caliber.
Debuts were planned years in advance.
Usually before one had even presented.
They were ready for a debut. Just not his.
His gender was just wrong.
He wasn't disappointed with his presentation, but it created set backs with the arranged marriage his family set years in advance to an older rich Omegan family.
He was supposed to continue his own family legacy. Keep the family name.
His family apologized half-heartedly and switched the engagement to his older brother.
Who at the time had no engagements prepared. Because he turned out wrong too.
Fortunate both parties called it. A blessing he called it. A curse the other cried.
Unfortunately his ex-fiance, now sister in law, was afraid of Soobin. In which Jay couldn't comprehend why?
His brother, as aloof as he was, didn't give off any obtuse vibe. He was rather charming when he wanted to be. The only con he could think of is that he was overprotective at times but that was just his personality.
The nickname, Ice Prince title felt more like a joke than any title. He felt it suited the younger tb alpha Sunghoon then it ever fit his own brother.
Then again. His brother is always gone. Did he himself even know him?
Now as he was fitted into a gown that felt too itchy, and had too much felt, he watched it as it dropped to the floor. Its intricate silk designs of roses fading from the constant friction.
