Everlasting Part Two

Kenna

It felt like ages since I had left the hideout. I swear the sun was angry with me because the moment I stepped outside my pale skin hissed at the contact with its rays.

"Tobi is so excited to be going on a mission with Mia Senpai!"

Tobi was in his usual overly excited mood. As if I wasn't tired enough.
He danced around me flailing his arms trying to get my attention, but I kept my gaze planted firmly on the ground.

Konaha wasn't too far from the main Akatsuki base, it only took us a day to get there.
Of course we had ditched the Akatsuki get up. After all this was an undercover, covert mission. I went under the name Hitori Yoyomi, and Tobi was my brother Tasuna Yoyomi. We checked into the closest hotel, trying to remain under the radar. For once I saw Tobi acting remotely sane, but I dreaded having to share a room with him.

We opened the door only to find a single bed in the middle of a small, yet quaint room.

Tobi giggled, "uh oh not enough beds, looks like Mia and Tobi will just have to cuddle!"

I reflexively smacked him in the face, not like it hurt he had a mask to protect him after all,
"No way."

I climbed onto the bed throwing a pillow and blanket on the ground and claiming it mine.

Tobi could tell that my mood was sour, so he left well enough alone and gave me the space I needed the rest of the night.

I crawled under my covers thinking about the first time Deidara and I stayed in a hotel. It was at the hot springs, and he had snuck into my room after I had a nightmare. It was the first very intimate moment he and I shared...

I clenched the comforter and pulled my knees closer to my chest.

Mia...

My eyes shot open too quickly, for a moment it sounded like Deidara saying my name. Oh great, now I was having auditory hallucinations. I rolled onto my back and rested my hand on my forehead. This was never going to end, who was I kidding...

I awoke the next morning to the sound of a bird, it made me realize just how long it had been since I heard a bird. The cute little guy was perched on the windowsill, singing into the bedroom.

"GOOD MORNING SENPAI!" Tobi unexpectedly pounced on me, causing me to fall off the bed and clench my chest for fear that my heart would just pound right out of it.

"Jeez," I breathed, "you really can't do shit like that to me, got it?" My voice sounded meaner than I intended.

"Tobi is sorry, Tobi is just excited to have Kenna back with us!"

Kenna?

"Wait, Tobi do you know this girl we're going to retrieve?"

He nodded quickly. But it wasn't possible, Tobi was our newest member.

"How?"

"Tobi met Kenna when she was just a little girl, but shh," he held his finger to his lips, "it's a secret."

"What in the hell are you even saying?" I was beyond confused.

"Mia and Tobi must hurry to get Kenna no more time to talk" he said grabbing my wrist, where I quickly yanked it away.

"Give me some time to at least wake up a little bit." I groaned.

"But Mia is awake!"

"Yeah no thanks to you..." I rolled my eyes heading into the bathroom to freshen up the cold water felt good against my skin.

"Well well looks like you've completely forgot about Deidara and trying to bring him back..." The monster hissed suddenly and I about hit the roof. My heart pace quickening. I clenched the sides of the sink staring at my reflection.

"What do you want?" I was growing tired of its taunting and games.

"You." It's tone of voice came out more menacing than ever before.

I couldn't seem to let go of the air trapped in my lungs.
"W-why?"

"Don't play dumb Mia... Or did you forget that I can see into your thoughts? You know why... And I know that you've been thinking about just giving yourself over." It chuckled.

"Is Mia Senpai okay?" Tobi knocked on the door.

It took me a minute but then I weakly responded, "y-yeah."

My monster was coming out more and more, and that terrified me...

Once it was dark, Tobi and I headed to the designated address given to us by Pein. We waited till dark to draw less attention and spent the day exploring. It wasn't often that us Akatsuki members had a chance to do so.

The house before us was a decent size, with no light pouring out from the cracks in the window. Tobi knocked.

"You idiot! You don't knock on the door of the person you're about to kidnaps house!"

But suddenly the door swung open and in front of me stood what I would imagine McKenna to look like. She was a few inches taller than I, her sleek black hair reaching her mid back, and her vibrant green eyes were intimidating.

"KENNA!" Tobi practically tackled the poor girl. But Kenna didn't seem to return the affection instead she moved away from him,

"What do you want?" Her voice sounded protective, a hint of slight fear.

"We were ordered by our leader to come retrieve you." I said simply.

"Retrieve? RETRIEVE?!" She laughed out loud. "As if he wasn't the one to send me a away!"

I tilted my head, but her paperwork had stated that she left on her own?

"Tobi misses Kenna though and so does leader-sama!"

But she just brushed off his comment, almost ignoring Tobi's presence completely. Then for a moment a flash of sadness took light in her eyes and she crossed her arms,

"Well I'm not interested so you two can leave." She attempted to slam the door but I wedged my foot in the way.

"I'm sorry but that's not an option."

She furrowed her eyebrows and gave me a menacing stare, "fine, then make me leave, if you can" she snickered turning around.

I felt anger rise in my chest and immediately threw a punch straight at the back of her head. Somehow she managed to not only turn and catch my fist but also trip me, causing me to land on my back and uncomfortably bending my wrist to my chest.

I formed some chakra into my foot and kicked her in the face, barely knicking her cheek. She jumped across the room.

"You stupid girl, you really want to fight me?"

"Oh don't worry if it was up to me I wouldn't bother, you are my boyfriends replacement after all, but unfortunately I don't have room to screw up anymore."

"Aww did your boyfriend leave you?" She made a fake sad face, "oh wait, I bet he died didn't he?" She rubbed her cheek mockingly and an unknown surge of absolute hatred washed over me. And I felt myself tensing every single muscle in my body, trying to find the strength to remain intact. Her words tore through me all too easily.

Thump.

Thump.

I felt my monsters pulse coursing through me, "let's show this bitch what we're really capable of." It snickered.

And then everything went black.
