(Long chapter because it's been a while since I updated this) (I promise this'll get good soon)

Bella slammed into Edward. The impact was like hitting a brick wall, and yet she still had the strength to try and push him back, protesting "No, Edward! Don't!"

Edward opens his eyes and looks at Bella as the clock booms its final chime for mood, the sound echoing through the courtyard. He's amazed, already dead in his mind.

"Carlisle was right..." He remarked, almost in an astonished daze "heaven..."

"No, I'm here" Bella insisted, still trying in vain to push him back "I'm alive"

"You're... not real" he muttered in confusion, his hands placed on her waist to keep her steady

Bella shook her head and grabbed his chin "Look at me! Alice was wrong"

It seems to dawn on him in that moment- his love was still alive "Bella?" He asked softly

She nodded, still trying to reason with him "Please, step back. I'm alive, I'm-"

He suddenly kisses her, stepping back into the shade with her as they embrace. They soak each other in like they are oxygen, like they needed each other to live. Edward pulls away to look at her, whispering in astonishment "You're here"

With a soft nod, she confirms " I'm here"

They share a long look, Edward leans in, about to kiss her again when suddenly, he stiffens. He abruptly pushes Bella behind him, taking a protective stance in front of her.

Out of the alley emerges two figures in hooded overcoats. They dropped the fabric from their heads, revealing themselves to the lovers. Both stunningly handsome men in their 20's. While one was huge and strong, the other was slender and delicate. The only similarities they shared were unsettling burgundy eyes.

"I won't be needing your services after all, gentlemen"Edward tells them smoothly.

"Aro wants to speak with you again" spoke the smaller of the two in a strong Italian accent.

"No rules were broken" Edward insists with a shake of his head

The other man's smile suggests he doesn't agree. He seems the more gracious of the two. But no less dangerous.

"We should take this conversation to a more appropriate venue" he suggests with a polite smile

Edward sighed, relenting to their wishes "Fine. Bella, why don't you stay and enjoy the festival?"

The taller of the two, Felix, spoke "The girl comes with us"

Edward barred his teeth, seething at them "That's not going to happen-"

Alice suddenly appears, lightly tripping through the alley toward them, pulling back the hood of her white swing coat. Delphine trailed behind her, an annoyed look on her face as she untangles the shawl from its place covering her head

"I hate this" she muttered, though Alice's happy voice covered her sisters complaining

Alice reached the couple, telling them all "Come on, guys, it's a festival" she shifted into a more protective stance as she added with a pointed look "We wouldn't want to make a scene"

" There won't be any scene" Felix insists with a smug grin  "And we'll still win"

 "But not easily-" Edward retorted
