Chapter 1:

Another morning...another day.

Another day you wished you didn't have to get out of the house.

Sure, your first day at your new school was only on Friday and you'd have the weekend shortly after, but the arduousness of stepping foot into the outside world inside of reading more fanfictions was enough to make you groan. The glare of the sun directly hitting your face from the lens of your bedroom window didn't help either.

You knew it was your fault for reading ship fics until two in the morning and you were okay with it. You just wished that you hadn't wasted all the precious time reading it only to end on a cliffhanger that the author couldn't be bothered to update two years ago. That was the true pain.

You reluctantly stood up from your bed, already knowing you wouldn't have the energy to fix it once you came back like your Mom had been telling you to do for the nth time. But it's not like I can blame you. What's more important than simping over your questionable taste in fictional men?

You skimmed through your closet–picking whatever was available and the most comfortable. You took your outfit in the bathroom with you so you could put it on after you were done with your three-step routine. Which was to wash your face, brush your teeth, and style it into a messy—

Nothing. A messy nothing. Your hair was usually messy anyway.

You fixed it to a bare minimum level of appropriateness. You've been wanting to experiment with your hair–you really did. You've just been too lazy to do so.

After you did all that, you got dressed and put on your backpack. You didn't bother to eat breakfast, it was a waste of time unless you were drinking coffee or soda. It was always just one or the other—water never being an option. As always, you had to take your phone (which if it was an iPhone, this is the 700th time you've replaced it) and a pair of those veteran earphones that only worked when you put it in a certain position. You were not looking forward to school.

Granted you usually didn't, but this time, it was a lot odder than it should've normally been. So odd, the people of the town didn't really act like...people. If anything, it just motivated you even further to not wanna go outside.

After not greeting your parents since it was six-thirty in the morning and they were still asleep, you walked to your bus stop and got picked up like you were informed to by your parents. You could appreciate the fact you wouldn't have to walk all the way to school, but you did miss the aspect of walking to school in the former town you lived in. Since you were closer, you could sleep longer. You also didn't have to worry about the potential of being kidnapped or standing in the unpredictable weather should you have been lazy enough to not look at the weather forecast.

You decided to sit in the middle row. Not in the back where the crazy kids were, but also not in the front where someone could instantly witness you do something stupid. You stepped carefully, not trying to be a clumsy anime protagonist who tripped over someone's foot. In the age where everyone recorded everything and forgot other people have feelings, you didn't wanna be endlessly humiliated on social media for making a simple mistake. You'd be damned if you found yourself on a YouTube cringe compilation. But hey, for all you know, you could be in one and just be unaware.

You sat down and scrolled through social media as you waited for the bus to stop at your new school—which it did.

You got off the bus and looked at your student information again. You only cared to look at your schedule and nothing else. As much as you wished you cared about the possibility of having a locker and being able to decorate it, there was just no time for it. You realized that during your freshman year of high school. Now being a senior, it was second nature to just carry everything in your backpack. It was easier than struggling to unlock a storage unit you wouldn't even have much time to use anyway.
