(Monika's POV)

It has been six months since the whole incident with Mark Avram. Things were going smoothly. The Characters have been integrated into Goldwin society and everything was good.

Well, mostly. There was this person, Thomas Lence, who strongly opposed Characters having rights. He thought we didn't deserve to essentially live as humans. He hated us Dokis most of all since we counted as American citizens. His following was still small, but he always made himself a nuisance at public speeches. But aside from that, everything was well. The town election was coming up soon and Tiki had her first physiotherapy session in a couple of days. And best of all, they made a bus system. No more did we have to rely on our single car.

One more thing. MC had gone on a tour of America so he could say he was the first Character to visit the big cities. He was given a special pass by the current mayor to do so. He did not take Sayori with him because it would be too expensive, but Sayori was fine with that. She said it gave her more time to figure out how she will ask him to be her boyfriend. They had gone on a few dates, but were still yet to make it official.

I was currently lounging with my boyfriend, Caleb. I had my head in his lap while he flipped through TV channels and stroked my hair. As he flew past, he made comments. "No... Nah... Terrible cooking... Useless product..." I giggled.

"How can you tell what's even happening if you keep switching so fast?" Tiki asked.

"When you have a sister who likes watching crappy soap operas you pick up pretty quick which channels are a waste of time," Caleb remarked.

"I HEARD THAT!" Robyn yelled from the kitchen. We laughed.

The door burst open as Natsuki, Sayori and Yuri returned from work. "We're back idiots, and we want dinner!" Natsuki declared.

"It's almost ready!" Robyn called. Caleb eventually stopped on the news channel.

"Reuben Cob's on!" he shouted to his sister.

Reuben Cob was one of the people running for mayor. He seemed like the best person for the role, so we were going to be voting for him. Except for Tiki, since she wasn't allowed to vote. Robyn came out with an empty plate in one hand and a spatula in the other. Reuben stepped up to the podium.

"Thank you for having me here, it's a pleasure to be here." He cleared his throat. "Lots of Characters here today, always nice to see. As you know, I have always supported our new residents in any way I can. Which is why I will be reading some of my policies I will put forward if I am elected mayor."

He read off a few, but the main important one every citizen of this city wanted was to allow marriage between humans and Characters. It did not apply to us, but so many people wanted it.I wonder why...

Towards the end of his talk, a familiar voice heckled him. "Boo! They don't deserve that!" We sighed. Looks like our good old buddy Thomas Lence was here to ruin another speech.

"Mr. Lence, please be quiet or I will have security forcefully remove you," Cob warned. Even he knew who it was just by hearing him.

"I will not be quiet. Characters don't deserve the same rights as us. They should be serving us, if not erased from existence," Thomas proclaimed.

"That's enough, Mr. Lence. Characters, in fact, do not have the same rights as us, though I am tempted to make it that way. For now, they shall have to be content with rules and restrictions to abide by. Is that not good enough for you?" Reuben said.

"No! They shouldn't even be close to us!" Thomas yelled back. Reuben signalled and two guards picked up Thomas and carted him off. "They'll turn on us, just you wait!" Thomas cried as he faded from view.

Tiki growled. "That man makes me sick," she said, her tone full of anger.

"I think he makes everyone sick. But let's forget about him." Robyn switched off the TV. "Who's ready for dinner?"

 We cheered loudly.
