Chapter 5

Later that night, I had a great encounter with Vũ Tấn at his dorm room. We sat on the bed to get some rest. This time, Vũ Tấn started the conversation by saying, "Thảo Linh, it seems like you look tired, right?" I nodded my head and said, "Yes, that's because I took minutes to study for the Statistics exam. Other things have been distracted me so much I couldn't get over it."
"I understand. You can still focus on studying anyway. That's why you're a class monitor." Then, Vũ Tấn handed me a bottled water, and he said to me as I took a sip, "I know that you will do good on this exam."
"For me, it's not enough except for something from you," I felt curious about some kind of remedy from him. He said with an 'Aha' expression, "Oh, you're right. I want to sing a song just for you."

        Vũ Tấn started playing a song called Đừng Rời Xa Anh by Justin Nguyễn in order to relax my mind. Whenever I listened to his voice, I felt like it fits this song alluringly, especially the instrumental break and the 2nd chorus. Even though his voice is a little bit slow, it was still light and breathy. I also hugged him from behind when he sang the bridge and final chorus. As he finished the song, I sat next to him and said, "Wow, your song makes me feel so much better. Thank you for relieving my stress."
Vũ Tấn put my head on his shoulder and said, "Anytime, Thảo Linh. I know you'll love my song." Finally, I checked my watch and realized it's almost 10pm, "Oh shoot, I guess I have to head back to my dorm room for bedtime. I hope you sleep tight with sweet dreams."
"Same to you, class monitor," he said with a smile as I left. He also took a shower, couldn't get over the moment he sang to me for the second time.

The next day, Vũ Tấn and his friend, Quốc Nam, were on their way to the Statistics class of the campus and they talked about his new encounter with me. While they were walking, Quốc Nam started asking, "Did Thảo Linh really let you borrow her IPod?" Vũ Tấn looked at Quốc Nam and responded, "Yep, but I just used it for a day."
"How about I can hand it back to her, ok?" Vũ Tấn nodded his head yes as he finished listening to the song Now I Know by Cardin. Then he gave the IPod to Quốc Nam, and Quốc Nam said, "If you like someone, don't be too perverted. Or else, someday she will fight you back!" All of a sudden, I appeared in a pink shirt and white jeans with Mỹ Yến, who happily greeted with Vũ Tấn. She can't even watch for the exam.

        We sat on different seats with determination not to cheat. After Quốc Nam gave me back my IPod, I took a breath, think happy thoughts, and started working on first questions with my magic pen. Meanwhile, Mỹ Yến refused to sit next to Vũ Tấn because she needed to focus on equations. The more I worked on the questions, the better I remembered what I learned. I could also improve my independence. After I finished the exam, I handed the exam to the professor and hoped he had a great day. While waiting for Mỹ Yến, I demanded myself a snack and read my favorite book. When Mỹ Yến and Vũ Tấn finished their works, I turned to them and asked, "How was the exam, guys?"
"Oh, it was easy, like I did what you helped me. Thank you so much, Thảo Linh," Mỹ Yến happily responded and gave me a fist bump. "Btw, you already have the tickets to watch A Cinderella Story, right?"
"Yep, I have them with me. I was also about to ask Vũ Tấn if he can go watch with us."
Vũ Tấn scratched his head hesitantly, "Sorry hai em. I have so much science homework with Quốc Nam. Maybe next time." Mỹ Yến grimaced, "We can't have fun without you. The reason why I want to watch a movie is to destress myself!" Luckily, Vũ Tấn kissed her on the cheek and consoled, "Aw, don't be such a little girl. I will have a study session for a few minutes and I will head back to you. Deal?"
"Deal!"

        After we said goodbye to Vũ Tấn, I decided to drive Mỹ Yến to the El Capitan Theater in my car. We checked in our tickets and got ready for the screening of A Cinderella Story. Later that afternoon, after the study session, Vũ Tấn and Quốc Nam watched their favorite Hong Kong buddy cop movie Sunshine Cops at his dorm room. At the opening scene, they thought it was when the robber was chased by the cop. Until the next scene, Vũ Tấn whispered to Quốc Nam, "Do you notice that both of them are cops?"
"Yep, what's worth saying is that H2O didn't have time to wear the uniform, so I think he's an undercover one," Quốc Nam said after he ate a piece of popcorn.
"In the future, when we graduated from college, will we be police officers just like them in this movie?"
Vũ Tấn solemnly said, "You know, actually I want to be a doctor in order to cure illness for people. Being a cop must have ultimately dangerous experience. Therefore, you should be a cop in the future."
"You wish," Quốc Nam gently slapped Vũ Tấn.

At the middle of the movie, Vũ Tấn received a phone call from Mỹ Yến, and he picked up and said, "Hello?"
"Hello, it's Mỹ Yến. Me and Thảo Linh just finished watching A Cinderella Story, and it has a happy ending," Mỹ Yến raised a bright voice. I also added in this conversation, "If Mỹ Yến thought she was going to watch this, she would've no longer been a mean girl."
"Ah, do you need something at the Miucha gift shop? Thảo Linh will buy us two on behalf of me in order to connect both of us," Mỹ Yến always cared about Vũ Tấn as her ideal boyfriend.
Vũ Tấn responded, "Yes, I need two Hello kitty plushies for both of us."
"Yes, sir. We'll call you back later."

        At the Miucha gift shop, we bought two Hello Kitty plushies. One for Mỹ Yến, and one for Vũ Tấn. Once again, I figured out another idea after we paid for those plushies, "Nè, I was wondering if we can go to the Golden Agar wood jewelry shop to buy bracelets for you guys?"
"Sure, I guarantee that those bracelets will grow the connection between me and Vũ Tấn," Mỹ Yến nodded with a smile.
"By the way, when I got an A on the exam, I will treat you a lifetime of milk tea!"
"Dream on, Tiny Tim," I chuckled as we headed to the Golden Agar wood Jewelry at the Asian Garden Mall. After we bought the bracelets, we drove back to the campus. We also headed to Vũ Tấn's dorm room and handed him two Hello Kitty plushies and two bracelets from the Hoàng Trâm Jewelry.

"So, do you like the Hello Kitty plushies and the bracelet I gave you," Mỹ Yến said as she put her hand on her chin. Vũ Tấn smiled as he wore the bracelet and held the plush and said, "The plush is so adorable, and so is the bracelet."
"See, I told you that you guys always bond with each other thanks to the bracelets," I said in a delightful tone and realized I finally got the golden opportunity to befriend Mỹ Yến.
Vũ Tấn also said, "After the exam, do you have any plans for the week?"
"Um, I will research about hypothesis testing and the nervous system. Besides, I will also have a study group with Hạ Nhiên and Bạch Nhạn," I also told Vũ Tấn about my favorite scenes in A Cinderella Story. Then, I said goodbye to Mỹ Yến and Vũ Tấn before heading back to my dorm room.

I was heartbroken, walking and sobbing uncontrollably because I regretted my decision to date a main male lead. However, those tears were enough to come into my senses, as well as changing my fate as a main female lead.
