Destined Love (Lloyd Garmadon x OC)

Introduction

Hello all, and welcome to Destined Love! I want to give you all a little background information. I'm introducing a few OCs and explaining some basic roller derby terms since the sport is a part of the story.

So, this story is going to take place just after the defeat of the overlord in Season 2. The reason I did this is that I wanted Olivia to be able to meet Lord Garmadon when he was Sensi/Master Garmadon rather than not meeting him at all. In reference to the ninja's ages, there are no confirmed ages for the ninjas, so I'm just making educated guesses based on the information on the wiki page of Cole, as well as some other guesses made by the community. Also, Olivia's power of precognition (the power to see the future) becomes a part of the story once she and Lloyd express their feelings for each other. Olivia prefers to use her power sparingly, although she trains daily to control her power. Lastly, I want to go over some generic roller derby terms since both Olivia and Anne are on a roller derby team (and later on, I will have them train the ninjas for a celebrity tournament or something, lol).

1. Roller Derby: a fast-paced, full-contact sport played on quad roller skates

2. Bout: one roller derby 'game' or 'match,' which lasts 60 minutes and, per WFTDA 4.0, is divided into two 30-minute periods

3. Blocker: a skater whose job is to stop or block the other team's jammer from passing while also enabling her own team's jammer to score

4. Jammer: the skater on the track who can score points (identified by the star on the panty on their helmet)

5. Lead Jammer: the first jammer to emerge from the pack cleanly (that is, without incurring a penalty) is designated by the referee as the lead jammer

6. Pivot: the blocker who stays at the front of the pack and regulates pack speed. The pivot also has the unique ability to exchange places with the jammer (identified by the stripe on the panty on their helmet) via a panty swap.

7. Pack: the mass of blockers from both teams skating around the track together

8. Panty: a stretchy helmet cover that is used to designate the jammer (with a star) or a pivot (with a stripe)

9. Passing the Star: a strategic play in which the jammer removes her helmet cover (the star) and gives it to the pivot, enabling the pivot to become the new jammer and thus score points

10. Track: the oval-shaped surface demarcated by an inner and outer boundary wherein the action takes place

These are some of the basic information about roller derby. Now, since this story takes place in Ninjago City, I'm upping the ante a little and adding hidden ramps to the track like in Season Four Episode Four, "Ninja Roll," because I like the idea of adding in an additional way to score points for the jammers and blockers of the lead jammers. Also, Olivia and Anne's team all have different colored jerseys since they are called the Inner City Ninjas and were formed to honor the Ninjas in roller derby after the defeat of the overlord. They are the only team in the league to do this. Olivia wears a green jersey, and Anne wears a black jersey (foreshadowing their future relationships with the Green and Black Ninjas😉).

Something else to add is that I plan on writing William, Olivia's dad, as coming off as very cold and emotionally manipulating, but he is doing it to protect his daughter from the Ninjas (whom he absolutely hates). He does genuinely love her and does not think that what he is doing is wrong. This does not excuse this kind of behavior, but I wanted to put this here for those who want to avoid stories of parental behavior, so this is not the story for you. Lastly, I want to give credit to CHARAT  for the avatar makers I used to make the images of Olivia, Anne, and William featured above. I got the base for the cover art from AkatsukiLioness on DevineArt. Definitely go and check them out. Also, I am by no means an artist, so please try not to judge any fan art I upload to this book. I also got all of my roller derby definitions from silicon valley roller girls' blog, and I will be referencing them more for definitions as I feel the need. Also, I do not own Lego Ninjago or any of its characters, only my original character mentioned above and later mentioned in the story. That is all for now! Now, it's time to go onto the story!
