It was a beautiful day in Ninjago City. The sun was shining, and the birds were chirping. The Green Ninja, Lloyd, and his mother, Misako, were walking down the street, enjoying some quality mother-son time.
"I can't believe how long it's been since we spent some time together," Misako said as they walked. Lloyd nodded. As they walked, they passed by several posters for the Ninjago Derby Dolls. The Inner City Ninjas and Mad Dogs had an upcoming bout. On the opposite end of the sidewalk, a girl was skating her way down the street. She carried with her a stack of flyers for the upcoming bout. The girl dug into her bag, trying to find where she needed to go next to hang up flyers. She was so focused that she didn't see she was about to run into Lloyd. When she looked from her stack, she caught sight of him.
"Hey, you watch out!" she called. Lloyd and Misako looked just in time for Lloyd to catch the girl, and the pair fell backward. Flyers scattered across the ground. "Oh, my gosh, I am so sorry! Are you okay?" the girl asked, quickly getting off Lloyd and pulling him up.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Are you okay?" He asked, accepting her offer. She smiled at Lloyd and nodded before beginning to grab her scattered flyers. Misako began to help her. She read one of them.
"Roller derby? Are you a member?" Misako asked as she handed the flyers to the girl. The girl nodded, a big smile appearing on her face.
"Yes, I am! My friend Anne and I are the newest members of the Inner City Ninjas!" she said, her amber eyes lighting up with excitement. "We have a bout in a couple of days, so I'm putting up these flyers so people can come to watch!"
"Sounds like fun!" Lloyd said, handing some more posters to the girl.
"It is! I'm a little nervous because this will be my first bout with the Inner City Ninjas, and I don't want to let them down," she said, rubbing the back of her neck. Misako and Lloyd smiled at the girl.
"Well, if you made the team, I'm sure you're excellent," Misako replied. The girl blushed.
"Thank you. I should probably get going. It was nice to meet you both." She said, putting the flyers into her messenger bag.
"It was nice to meet you too... uh," Lloyd started to say, realizing they hadn't introduced themselves. The girl smiled.
"Olivia, Olivia Holt," she said, sticking out her hand for the mother and son to shake.
"It was very nice to meet you, Olivia. I'm Misako," Misako replied, shaking Olivia's hand. "And this is my son, Lloyd." Lloyd also shook Olivia's hand. With that, they parted ways, Olivia heading off to the next spot to hang up roller derby flyers, and Misako and Lloyd in opposite direction to continue their walk. As he walked, Lloyd couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to see Olivia again. That's when he got an idea. He grabbed one of the flyers he found hanging up.
"Are you going to go watch?" Misako asked. Lloyd nodded.
"Yeah. And I think I'll have the guys go with me." Olivia had literally come crashing into his already chaotic life. And Lloyd was beginning to think it wasn't such a bad thing.
