[ Didianes POV ]
10:30 am
I was laying down in the library, I might as well since it seems I didn't have anything but boredom to try and solve. My mom was in here as well, except she seemed to be trying to research something. Whatever that was, I didn't seem to care enough to question.
" You know, Ane, you have this company party you are going to tomorrow night. "
My mother spoke to me from over her shoulder, I didn't want to talk about it. A company party at a club? Makes me sick. Yet, father asked me too, and I have to go, whether or not my opinion is with him or not.
" I don't want to talk about it. " I said softly as I hunched over in my chair that hung from the ceiling. Curling up into a ball as I read a new series that came out, hoping to hide from the bothers that surrounded me.
" Didiane, whether or not the setting is proper, or trashy, this is something you will have to deal whether or not you want to. " My mother stated, clearly trying to convince me half of the world isn't filled with complete idiots.
" I'm aware. Trust me, those mannerism classes said way more. " I said quietly, mumbling the last part of my sentence.
" Well, I'm just trying to help. " My mother rebutted. I will say that maybe I came across a bit rude, but still those classes were god awful.
" Mom, I'm just trying to read. If you're wanting me to get out of the library just say so. "
Clearly stating the obvious, I think my mother is hiding something or is trying to get me out of the library because it's the only place with peace and quiet that can actually seem to take me away from my reality for more than a second.
" I'm just saying to go do something other than read for once. "
She seemed kind of agitated with the idea I spent a lot of my time reading instead of helping out her and my father.
" I'll call over Reverie then, only if I can take her with me to this... party. "
My mother sighed at me, she knew I wouldn't go anywhere if she didn't say yes, I smiled - knowing I just worked my way around a barrier, when she nodded, I laughed as I picked up my phone and called the only girl in New York that could get me in and out of stores in a span of a minute.
Well, it didn't take her long to even pick me up, even though I walked out in tight leggings and a cropped hoodie, wearing low heels, it caused me to rush way more than needed, because I knew she would be in front of my house in a span of three minutes after hanging up.
" So... a party huh? " My friend questioned as soon as I got in the car.
" It's a business party, at a club. Not a party with men to dance with. " I looked at her with a raised eyebrow, this girl was a party girl for sure, tight dresses, heels, loud music and a club was all she lived for. Meanwhile, even though I'm a city girl, I don't do club parties, I like the higher-class things, the penthouse clubs, champagne and spending my time learning the rumors and secrets of everyone I could possibly think of.
" Still, it's a club, with hot men. You have to at least acknowledge the fact that not everyone is going to act so... sophisticated there as you do. " Reverie spoke to me, clearly showing that her way of partying was different from mine.
" Oh whatever, I'm only with you because my mom kicked me out of the library, I just need you for some fun and to help get me a dress since ' my dresses are to formal for this party. ' " I mocked my mom's words that she said to me just before I walked out the front door to the house.
I wasn't wrong when this woman parked the car and basically started dragging me down the streets of New York trying to find a store that she and I both liked and didn't look like a total strip store.
" Okay, there's this new store, its 'round the corner, it's just opened, but I was looking at them online; Pretty dresses, party ones- they also have suites and stuff too, we could bring your brother here if he were going. " I sighed, and just nodded as Reverie grabbed my hand while her two shopping bags were on her other arm, she seemed excited to me, at least. I wasn't to bothered by this, It was just another outing, and I needed a dress so I couldn't complain too much.
When we walked into the store, it was a comfortable setting. The lights were somewhat dimmed, enough to see, but the sunlight also helped massively by coming in through the large windows in the front. As soon as we walked in, we got a 'assistant' a lady named, Elaine - i didn't really pay attention, because Reverie immediately started rambling about the dresses we needed. When I was trying to find my way to the section where the dresses were, there was this man in my way, I couldn't see his face, all he wore was a white shirt and black pants, tattoos on his left arm it seemed, they were covered almost though. When I tried to go around him- he took a step back and almost crushed me! " Can you move please? you're in my way. " I spoke plainly. I think I let out touch of attitude with it though, because he mumbled something and walked off. Asshole. I scoffed softly and made my way to the dresses, Reverie immediately commented.
" He was a bit odd. " She spoke quietly, I nodded as I spotted a dress that I may have wanted.
" What do you think? " I said as i held up a tight red dress, it had diamond straps, glimmered, and almost knee high. Reveries eyes sparkled.
" Oh you've got to take it! It's hot as fuck! " She said with a giggle.
" Language, but yeah ill take it. " I didn't bother to look at the price tag, I just gave it to the assistant as I wondered off to find some heels since I know I didn't have any at home.
" I think we're done! " Reverie said as she placed 2 dresses, 3 pairs of heels on the counter, 2 sets of jewelry and 2 purses along with everything else we decided to get. I shook my head silently as I laughed to myself, I took my black card out of my purse before Reverie stopped me.
" No! You are not getting that; you buy everything else let me get it. " I glared at her with a sigh, I wouldn't be able to fight her about it even if I tried.
" Fine, I'm getting lunch though. " I smiled as I put my card back in my phone case and she took out her own card and paid for everything. We must've walked out the store at least with 5 new bags.
