The Same Old Thing

You're just sitting there, reading a book on Wattpad. Maybe it's Fantasy, or Science Fiction, or Historical Fiction, or whatever, the point is your reading a book. The problem is, in alot of stories, they ruin the entire plot by adding these simple things; cliches.

"What are cliches, Starburst?" (Imagine that in an incredibly stupid voice)

Cliches are what I like to call things that ALMOST EVERYBODY uses that saps the creativity and originality out of writing. There are so many of these everywhere, I don't even know where to start. I'll start with the one I definetly hate the most, the one that SO many people use it is frustrating: The People Cliche.

Now, The People Cliche is one of the worst there is. I'm going to give you an example of a people cliche, and you are going to honestly think about how you feel about it:

I walked down the hallway, and stopped at my locker. I groaned when I saw Missy, the popular cheerleader captain with blonde hair and blue eyes, walk towards me. She is the prettiest and smartest girl in school, and she is dating the football captain, who is the strongest and the most popular and cutest guy in school. She walks towards me and rolls her eyes at me.

" Ugh, Zoey. What do you want?"

I am a shy and quiet person but that was crossing the line. I stood up and said,

"Why don't you mind your own business, you jerk!" she laughed at me and all the other popular people did too and it made me feel sad. Only the football captain didn't laugh, and he stared at me with his cute blue eyes and blonde hair and it made me feel really happy and excited. I skipped away and passed the nerds with glasses and braces and walked all the way to class and was happy and nice all day. The end.

Now, how do you feel about what I just wrote for you?

Do you feel disgusted? Annoyed? Confused?

That, what you just experienced, is The People Cliche. This is so......UGH! Let me explain to you, which I will only do in 5 ways, why this is wrong. (If I don't limit myself to 5 ways I could be here, like, all day!)

#1: WHY IS THE POPULAR GIRL ALWAYS BLONDE WITH BLUE EYES? WHY IS SHE A CHEERLEADER CAPTAIN? WHY DOES SHE ALWAYS HAVE A FANCY OR CATCHY NAME?WHY DOES SHE DATE THE FOOTBALL CAPTAIN? WHY CAN'T SHE BE ON THE SWIM TEAM OR DO BASEBALL OR WHATEVER? WHY CAN'T SHE NOT DATE ANYONE? GRRRRRRRR! (That was me being VERY frustrated!!!!)

#2: WHY DO YOU ALWAYS FALL FOR THE FOOTBALL CAPTAIN WHO IS TAKEN? NOT COOL! WHY NOT FALL FOR SOMEONE ELSE? OTHER PEOPLE EXIST, YOU KNOW!!!!!

#3: WHY DO ALL THE OTHER POPULAR PEOPLE LAUGH? DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDS? IS EVERY POPULAR GIRL OR GUY A BULLY? NO! I HAPPEN TO HAVE A BEST FRIEND WHO IS POPULAR AND VERY NICE!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS AGAINST BULLYING!!!

#4: WHY SAY YOU ARE SHY AND QUIET THEN INSULT HER? THAT'S STUPID! THAT'S LIKE SAYING I HATE CHOCOLATE ICECREAM BUT I EAT IT ALL THE TIME.

#5: WHY IS THIS PERSON CALLING OTHER PEOPLE NERDS? ONE OF MY FRIENDS HAS GLASSES AND BRACES, AND SHE IS AWESOME!!!!! SHE ROCKS!!!!! THIS IS SO STUPID, JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS GLASSES AND BRACES DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE A NERD!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!

Okay, okay, phew. I got that all out. But seriously, that is what sucks, ALOT! If you're going to make a popular person, don't be a loser and please make her do swimming or basketball or whatever ( Make sure it ISNT FREAKING CHEERLEADING!). This is why so many stories that have the potential to be great suck. This will be one reason Wattpad will end. The other is One Direction Stories(Which has forever scarred me......another rant for another day.) and Justin Beiber Stories(again, another rant for another day.) THIS IS WHY WE HAVE TOO MANY FREAKING CLICHES. PEOPLE WITH LOW SELF-ESTEEM WRITE THESE STORIES AND MESS UP THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, unfortunately, I got carried away..... and now I will have to save the other cliches for another day. Lesson learned, please don't do cliches.
