"What the hell happened?" S.Coups meets on the edge of the track, racing helmet in hand. "I saw the crashed car, but by the time I made the second lap, Yangyang was already gone."
As soon as Rosé's announcement ended, the seventeen members enjoying the lounge rushed to reach the track. Both Rosé's message and the workout sobered them up, although a few, specifically Wonwoo, are still tipsy.
Jeonghan sighs, pushing to the front. "Lucas is back."
"What the fuck does that have to do wi- oh. Seriously? They had a fake racer?"
"I told you all that Yangyang was too good,' Seungkwan huffs, crossing his arms. "Nobody wins their second Golden Rose Cup."
"Sorry, Seungkwan. Maybe we'll listen to you next time," S.Coups apologizes at least half genuinely.
Seungkwan scoffs and walks off, meeting up with a bid collector from a different group.
"What are we supposed to do?" Hoshi steps forward, unusually serious. "Kun was the biggest doner around here."
"Let's not talk about that here," S.Coups rubs his temple. "This is too much for tonight." He looked behind his shoulder. Mingyu and Dino are approaching us now.
"I'm off to find Sana," Jun announces before disappearing from the group.
Dino's gaze is glued to the ground as he walks. His head is so low that I can't see the expression on his face. Mingyu's laugh floats through the other tangled noises as he slaps Dino's shoulder and says something probably meant to be a joke. When Dino doesn't respond, Mingyu softly shakes his head and says something to the younger racer.
"There are a lot of things to discuss tomorrow," S.Coups groans. "You guys spend the night however you would like but be ready for a meeting in the morning. Meet at the restaurant on our floor at seven."
A few members whine about waking up so early, but nobody says anything outright. The ones who aren't sad that their time is cut short start deciding who will go back with whom and who is the safest to drive.
"Where are you guys going in such a hurry?" Mingyu runs up to us, barely catching S.Coups as he starts to leave with Jeonghan. "You placed second 'Coups. Shouldn't we be celebrating?"
"Change of plans tonight," Woozi says. "And there's a meeting at seven. I'm sure DK or The8 will tell you about it." Woozi yawns before quickly maneuvering through the crowd to reach S.Coups and Jeonghan.
I wonder if Woozi will tell S.Coups about Jeonghan's little scheme.
As I'm about to grab Mingyu's attention, somebody grabs my arm and pulls me toward them. "Y/N!" Jisoo screams in my ear, ensuring I can hear over everything. Worry etches on her face, and I already know what's bothering her.
"Changkyun." I nod. "I saw him earlier."
"But what is he doing racing?"
"Joshua said he was Wonwoo's replacement."
Jisoo furrows her forehead. "But, didn't they pick somebody else to replace him?"
"Did they?" I faintly remember someone, probably S.Coups, mentioning a substitute once Wonwoo was terminated, but the memory is fuzzy. "Doesn't matter," I conclude. "He's here now."
I watch as Jisoo clicks her tongue and shakes her head. "It's too bold after somebody tried to kill him. Does he not care about his safety?"
At some point, Jisoo will have to realize that nobody here is too worried about safety. If they were, they wouldn't even race in the first place.
