"Keneth, what the heck are you doing going at it in the middle of the day! "Said his mom. The one who was fighting against his brother, yelled out. "We're just training, that's all" and his brother Luke catching his breath sputtering to speak "yeah, were fine." Their mother looked at them with concern caution them "Alright, then don't forget to get back before dinner" both nodded. At dinner, everyone was sitting down enjoying their meal until their father spoke up. You boys have kept up with your training, and in return I will take you to Mito Mountain. They both looked at their father in astonishment, gleefully yelling. "Yeah, we finally get to go!" Their father promptly saying "after dinner, go straight to bed, tomorrow will be very vigorous for you." The two boys look at their father and said "Ok."
Once dinner was over, they got themselves ready for bed. Luke was unable to go sleep, due to the sheer anticipation, "It took so long to move on from this stage of training." Keneth remarks "Father knows when the time is right. Anyway, its getting late, we better get some shuteye" Luke says while drifting to sleep "yeah..."
In the morning Keneth woke up in a groggy daze realizing what today was. "Oh crap, I'm the only one who isn't ready yet" Exclaiming to himself. In a hurry he puts on his clothes while heading downstairs. His mom cleaning the dishes scolds him, "Your late mister" shoving the toast in his mouth said "I overslept, that's all" his mom still focus cleaning the wares says in return "Luke, and your father are already on their way to the Mito Mountain" After putting on his shoes responded "Thanks for the head up."
Dashing out of the house think to himself " Mt. Mito trail is 2 miles from the house, I should be able to make it." Finally reaching to the trail Keneth was exhausted but persistent to go on. The rugged terrain made it more difficult to go through, trees tall as buildings preventing sunlight to penetrate the surface. He came to a stop, along the way he found a bench and decided to rest up a bit before going again. "I thought I would've been able to get there, but I guess it was futile attempt."
After mumbling to himself a voice called out "Looks like I'm not the only one in this neck of the woods." Now on alert Keneth looked around until he spots a figure right in front of him. It was clocked in darkness, not even having a body but just mist around itself, with red beady eyes being the only thing that's visible. "Who's are you?" He said, the dark silhouette responding in an eerie voice spoke "Why I've been named many things as the dark seeker or spirit guard, but you can refer to me as Vico." Not knowing the intention of the stranger, Keneth hesitantly responded "ok...Vico why did you even approach in the first place?" The spirit sincerely asked "Well you seemed saddened about something and it looked like you needed someone to talk to" Keneth then sat back down slumped, responding back "You got that right, my brother Luke went on ahead with my father to Mt. Mito to advance our training but it looks like I won't be able to make it since they'll most like already have started." The dark figure said back "You shouldn't beat yourself up about it, even so they must be worried about..." Before saying another word he quickly shut it down recoiling and answered back "No, they don't care at all not even bothering to wait for me!" The cloud of ominous aura said sinisterly "You shouldn't wish for those things or it could become true!" Vico vanished and a void of darkness rushing towards Keneth with unbeknownst speed.
All sudden he got up in a frenzy, but recognizing he was no longer on the bench but in his bed. Pondering to himself "How, the heck did I end up here, all I remember some dark spirit got me then blank..." Brushing it off as a bad dream he ignored it and put some clothes on and headed downstairs. "Good morning mom, how's breakfast coming along," His mother turned around responding back "The foods almost ready, you father and brother are cleaning the backyard can you give them a helping hand. Keneth nodded back in response. Both of them were carrying stones to make a pathway. Father said " you mind taking one of those stones and placing them on the path" Keneth replied "sure thing dad." Thinking to himself "It looks like everything is normal, nothing has change at all." But before he continued his thought, a tree got struck by lightning and making the tree fall over. Looking on in horror he tried to warn them, "Father, Luke watch out!" But it was too late, Keneth ran towards the spot where the tree fell on them. What lied there was a gruesome scene. Both were crushed completely by the tree, not a single movement indicating any signs of life.
In that moment, memories began flooding in all at once, remembering the distasteful things he said about his brother and father. Then dropping to the floor in a regretful tone, "I'm sorry for what I said, I never wanted things to end up this way." In the errie landscape a familiar voice called out "looks like you finally get it now" Keneth glancing up in confusion wondering why he was still at the bench. Baffled, he asked "Was this all a dream?" the spirit Vico snickered, "Yep, a teaching lesson perse." Keneth taking in the moment said "though what you showed took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, it did allow me to see the errors of my ways and with that I want to thank you." Vico blushing in embarrassment recompose themselves says "You don't need to thank me; all I want you to do is go up there and finish what you started. And with that Keneth waved a final goodbye to the spirit and continued his journey up the mountain. He reaches the top of the mountain where his brother and father waited for him the whole time.
Mt. Mito isn't like any other one, as it is specially known to harbor a youkai... whoever comes across them are blessed or cursed depending on how the spirit gauges their soul.
