We turned around and saw several figures hovering above us, getting ready to land. They all wore black suits with a white flower pinned on their chest. My jaw dropped to the ground as I recognized who they were: Son Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, Majin Buu, Jiren and Whis. They could all pass on as Men in Black.

Majin Buu marched toward me with that playful smile, arms outstretched. "Buu!"

I set off to embrace him, but I bounced off his huge tummy like a trampoline. "It's really you!"

He felt warm and soft like jelly. He wasn't my favorite character, but he was certainly the most likeable. Dad just stared, wide-eyed, mouth hung open.

"Well," Master Roshi said, peering through his sunglasses. "Better late than never."

"It's Kakarot's fault," Vegeta said. "He wouldn't stop training."

Goku scratched his head. "Whis was supposed to remind us about the time, remember? He totally forgot it too!"

"But your earth guardian here," Whis said, turning to Piccolo, "Failed to contact me. That's why I gave you the crystal ball."

Piccolo held up a ball glowing with rainbow colors. "You mean this piece of crap? Is there a button to press around here? It doesn't work!"

Majin Buu giggled. "Buu!"

Jiren stared at Frieza with his cold, dark eyes. He was watching the purple man's every move, like a lion stalking a gazelle.

Frieza noticed and held up an eyebrow. "And what are you looking at?"

Jiren finally took his eyes off him but didn't respond.

Master Roshi waved his hands at them. "Hold on, hold on. We're here to pay respects to Akira-san."

They all stopped talking and immediately got down on their knees, bowing in reverence. "Arigato gozaimasu!"

"Dad," I whispered, "What does that mean?"

"It means thank you."
