Omniscent. Friday night.

Tonight would be Shelby and Amir's first date. Clutching a bouquet of roses in his hand, Amir approached Shelby's front door. Nervousness flowed through him as he balled his hand into a fist and knocked.

Pulling his lips into his mouth, he fidgeted with the end of the bouquet. As the door swung open, he was met with Shelby, her hair curled. She pulled the top of her a pink robe closed wiggling her toes in her matching pink slippers.

"Oh my gosh, this is so embarrassing, I'm so sorry, I was just about to get dressed. Come in!" She smiled, stepping aside to let him in. She then locked the door behind them  and turned to face him, seeing that he was already looking at her.

"It's cool, beautiful. I actually felt like I didn't give you enough time to get ready," he said, drawing his plump lower lip between his teeth. "y'know considering you're still in a bathrobe." He spoke, a light chuckle escaping his lips.

"Oh no, you're perfectly fine! It just takes me forever to get ready," she said, as he held out the bouquet in his hands. "I'm indecisive about what I want to wear ninety nine percent of the time anyway, I did try to rush myself a little bit."

"I get it, it's fine ma, but these are for you." He said holding out the flowers for her to take, the beautiful gesture already made her swoon, taking the flowers from his hand she smelt them, a smile of gratitude on her face.

"These are so pretty, thank you, Amir." She said feeling appreciative because she hadn't gotten flowers in a very long time.

"You're welcome." He said as she sat the flowers onto her kitchen island, sauntering over to the cabinet she grabbed the empty glass vase from the corner of the counter. After adding some water to it she quickly sat the flowers inside of it before making her way toward her bedroom.

"You can make yourself comfortable, I have water and other drinks in the refrigerator. I should be ready in a minute. I don't wanna make us late for whatever we're doing." She smiled as he nodded.

As she turned around to walk in the direction of her bedroom, he couldn't help but to let his eyes trail her frame from behind. Hearing the door shut, Amir made his way into the kitchen, after washing and drying his hands at the sink he grabbed a cup from the cabinet and opened the refrigerator.

His eyes scanned the drink options before he chose tropical fruit punch. He poured himself a cup, took a sip, and refilled it. Walking into the living room, he noticed the family photos on the TV stand. He guessed the little girl was Shelby with her parents and smiled softly at the cute picture. Hearing footsteps, he turned to see her.

"Okay I'm re- not you looking at my childhood photos, so embarrassing." Shelby couldn't even finish her sentence as a light chuckle her lips, causing her to cover her mouth.

"Nah, it's not embarrassing at all. Was this a birthday photo?" he asked as they stepped out of her condo. Shelby locked the door and slipped her keys into her clutch while they walked side by side toward the elevators. Despite Amir towering over her petite frame, he kept glancing at her, thinking her side profile was just as pretty.

"It was actually, my sixth birthday. My parents took me to this place that had bounce houses and an arcade, and some of their stuff I can't remember because it was so long ago." She said as Amir chuckled lightly. "I do remember getting cake all over me because my cousin smashed some of it in my face." She said as the metal elevator doors slid open and the two stepped inside, leaning their backs against the wall Amir pressed the button leading to the parking lot, he admired her as she texted away at her screen, he wanted to break the ice a little more so he opened his mouth to speak.
