UA is the most prestigious high school in Japan, and there is nobody who would argue about that. Every student who applies must go through a rigorous and extensive selection process in the hopes of getting in. Of course, the success rate of getting into the school is very low, but this only adds to its prestige. Students wear their uniforms like badges of honor out in the city, and there are many young children who make it their goal to attend UA. Alas, the goal is still achieved by so few.
After graduation, UA students are able to proceed into just about any university they wish, and businesses begin scouting students from their entrance into the school, looking for the best and brightest. Many of the most elite members of society are UA graduates, and some, though fairly few, become Pro Heroes once their schooling is done and hide their identities from press. Often, a hero who went to UA ends up with his or her own practice, this statistic known but its sources carefully hidden to safeguard the heroes' identities, developing some of the biggest-name agencies of Japan.
All this is supposed to begin once the students reach adulthood, of course. It is unheard of for a minor to go into dangerous profession like heroism. Especially in this world of disaster-causing quirks, adults take the safety of the next generation very seriously. That is why this story exists, however, since Bakugou Katsuki defies these norms.
...
"Dynamight! This way!"
"I fucking git it, dipshit!" A short man with spiky blonde hair shouts back at the Pro Hero Kamui Woods. The blonde hero ignites explosions on his hands, shooting up off the of the building he has been spectating on the battle from and nosedives toward the street, pulling his hands forward as he reaches a villain on the ground and shooting off a massive explosion, breaking his fall and rocketing the villain back into the wall of a building and eliciting a grunt of pain from the asshole.
The spiky-haired hero, clad in black, green, and orange, an orange X on the front of his shirt, utility belt stocked with grenades, and two large grenade gauntlets covering his forearms and elbows, bends his knees and takes up a fighting stance as his crimson eyes observe the street through a black mask covering half his face. "Got eyes on anyone else, Mount Bitch?" he snaps through an earpiece.
Mount Lady rolls her eyes at her colleague's loud voice. From where she stands towering over the city, she looks around again. A bit of rubble and knocked out villains being tied up by heroes are on the scene, but there are no more threats she can see. "Pretty sure we're good, Dynamight," she calls back before turning towards a helicopter and blowing a kiss towards the camera on it.
Dynamight rolls his eyes and sneers in disgust. "Kiss-ass."
"Hey!" Mount Lady shouts, scandalized, but does not argue that it is untrue.
"Alright, you guys, chill out," Rock Lock injects through his earpiece as he shoves another villain in one of their police cars. "How about you all help finish securing all the villains."
Dynamight looks around, spotting some civilians behind a line secured by police on the city street. A few hold signs and chant his hero name. Dynamight huffs. "I gotta go," he says abruptly.
"Again?" Another hero asks. Protests flood the comms. Dynamight hears a sigh as he begins stalking away towards a tall building. "Where do you vanish off to all the time? You never stay for cleanup, man."
Scoffing, Dynamight looks up the side of the large corporate building in front of him. Holding his hands angles towards the ground at his sides, he returns, "None of your fucking business. We all got our own shit going on, and nobody else has any business digging into it." His hands ignite, and Dynamight shoots into the air, landing gently on top of the building after letting off a few more explosions.
"Yeah, yeah, we know, man. Still, though. We've all got our own secret identities, and we respect them. Lots of us know each other's as I'm sure you know," Kamui Wooks chips in. "Some of us are heading to a bar tonight, and we'd like if you showed up. We'll be in our civilian clothes, so press won't be swarming or anything. It's just relaxed, so how about it?"
Dynamight clenches and unclenches his hands at his sides. "Drinking with you asshats? No fucking way." A chortle filters through the comms along with some groans, and Dynamight pulls his earpiece out, turning it off and stuffing it into a pocket. Running across rooftops under the clear sky, me maneuvers himself away from prying eyes and into a little hideaway. Stripping off his hero gear, Dynamight grabs a backpack from the edge of the small, dark room, pulling out of it the civilians clothes he had packed and promptly put them on.
He found this place a few years back and has never seen anyone else come near it, so it suddenly became his for all intents and purposes. It is just a small square room off off of an out-of-the-way ally that is, usually, free form crime, and you need to walk down a lot of stairs from the doorway to get inside, which is likely part of the reason people do not seem to want to deal with it. Either way, that works for Bakugou. Even better it seems people forgot to turn off the electricity to it, to there is one light in the middle of the room that he turns on when he comes in.
Pulling up a large and loose tile form the ground, Dynamight digs into his hidey-hole, pulling a large and very securely locked box from inside it. Opening it up with a super secret combination, spelling K.C.U.F., he stows away his clothes, gauntlets, boots, mask, and headpiece before replacing the box under the flooring, making his way through some doors to the right, he walks through a tunnel he is very familiar with.
Popping out of the other side after a ten minute walk into yet another, though a much less dirty and more open, alleyway, Dynamight grumpily stomps onto and then down a sidewalk in a nice and unassuming neighborhood. Children's high pitched laughs reach him from a park on the other side of the road, a few cars zooming by every once in a while as he walks. Some pedestrians pass him by, but nobody pays him a second glance.
Eventually, Dynamight makes it to a medium sized, nice house. Whipping out a key from his jeans, he opens the door and stalks through the silent house, up the stairs, past a couple of all-too-proper family photos and into his bedroom. There is nobody else home, as usual.
Walking into his bathroom to wash his face, Dynamight scrubs at some dirt he had smeared on his cheek and washes the gash in his arm he received from some reptilian-quirked guy before looking at his reflection, hands gripping the sides of his sink.
A sixteen-year-old boy stares back at him.
This is Bakugou Katsuki, And his deepest secret is that he puts on a mask and becomes the fearsome hero Dynamight when not focusing on school
Pulling out the chair at his desk, Bakugou sits and works on his homework for the night. Peeking up at the clock above his doorway, he notes that it is still only eight at night. Easy. This is much better timing than most days when he goes out as a hero after school. Unfortunately, he does not get all too much rest despite being big on sleeping for long hours. His wishes to "turn in early for the night," however, do give him an easy getaway when he wishes to get away from people and put on his costume during star-lit hours.
Furthermore, not many people in the hero social circles question his timing or put much thought into it. It is preposterous to imagine a hero being a student, and it is extremely plausible that he has other timing conflicts in his life. These are some of the perks of having a secret identity. Few people can do more than question where Dynamight goes and what de does in his free time. Even becoming a Pro Hero was somewhat easy, despite him being fourteen at the time. He made enough of a fuss that they allowed him to take required tests and work at a hero agency without giving his employers his identity. Nobody would guess he is a student at UA.
So he goes about his day as usual. With today's timing being as immaculate as it is, he gets to bet early. Days like this should be cherished.
Feeling well-rested the next morning, Bakugou wakes and stretches, cracking his back and setting off a few sparks in his hands. Running a hand through his larger-than-normal hair, he gets up to put on his clothes.
After situating his UA uniform, Bakugou checks that he has all of the homework he has due before setting off for school.
A normal day of school for a not so normal kid.
