A week after my letter arrived, I found Mom, Dad, Mason and I standing in Diagon Alley. Let me tell you... I was amazed!

"What do you think, honey?" Mom asked as I took my first steps in the Alley. "What do you want to buy first?"

"It's amazing! There's so much to see and explore. It's probably one of the best things I've ever seen." I stated, still not fully recovered from the positive shock "Can we buy my wand first, please?"

"Whatever you want!" dad answered and indicated the whole family to follow him.

"Too bad Fred, George and Ron couldn't come today" Mason said as we followed Mom and Dad

"Yes, I was so excited to see Ron. I haven't seen him for years!" I answered while looking around at all the interesting shops and things.

The Weasley's and our family were close, because our fathers both worked at the Ministry of Magic. Dad told me he was an auror (and obviously he also told me what he had to do and what the job was all about). I admired him even more than I already did. I also think that that's the reason Mason and I didn't know about magic for such a long time as it is a severely dangerous job. But that's probably just another silly thought of mine.

"And here we are at Ollivanders!" Dad said pulling me out of my thoughts "Come one let's go in."

As we entered I felt uneasy almost directly. Ollivanders was a dark, shabby looking shop. I looked at my parents who were behind me and then around the shop. Mason was already sitting in a chair. Next to him was a man with pale eyes.

"John! Mary! What a pleasure to see you once again. The last time I saw you was when Maosn bought his wand. I suppose you're here for your daughter now?" the man said. His voice was very soft, but I still was  somehow creeped out by him.

"Yes! I'm Julie" I answered the man. Luckily, I have no problems talking to people. I honestly love talking to people, especially new people I haven't met before. I am probably the most extroverted person there is.

"What's your wand arm?" he asked, smiling at me. By now I had figured out that the man was Mr. Ollivander.

"Left" I said kind of confused. I wasn't really sure what he meant, so I just said the arm which I wrote with. He also was holding a tape measure now.

"Hold out your right arm" Mr Ollivander said and he started measuring me. He measured me from shoulder to finger, then wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit and round my head.

I heard Mason trying to stop himself from laughing, but being very unsuccessful. I probably looked ridiculous, but I didn't care. I would soon get my wand! While the tape measure was measuring me between my nostrils, I noticed that it was doing this by itself. I was shoked and scared but didn't do anything because I froze.

"That will do" Mr Ollivander said and jogged to the back of the store and came back with a box. He pulled out a beige wand and gave it to me while saying: "11 3/4 inches, maple wood, dragon core and pliant flexibility, please try that one."

As I held the wand I felt a sudden warmth in my fingers and my hair slightly being pushed back. The tip of the wand was glowing. It stopped after a short moment.

"How curious.. It doesn't happen very often that the first wand choses its owner. You must be a very powerful witch." Mr Ollivander said. I looked at him in shock. Me? A powerful witch?

We payed for the wand and stepped back into the Alley. I still was thinking about what Mr. Ollivander had said. Why would I be powerful witch? What's special about me?

"You know what guys? I think it would be best if we split." Mom started as we were walking. "Julie you can go buy your uniform with Mason. And you probably need a new one anyway, Mason. You grew much taller over the summer. Dad and I can go pick out your books"

"Good idea, we can meet in an hour right here"  Dad agreed and looked at Mason and me to recieve or approval.

"Alright, see you later" Mason said and now it was just the two of us walking towards Madam Malkins shop. We stepped into the shop and Madam Malkin came to us directly.

"Hogwarts dears?" she asked. She seemed very nice and sweet. The atmosphere in the shop also was much more pleasant in comparison to Mr. Ollivanders.

"Yes." Mason said. Madam Malkin gave us a smile and told us to stand on little stools. She was gone for a short time and I took the opportunity to ask Mason a question.

"Do you think I'll also be a Gryffindor?" I asked.

"What?" Mason now was looking at me.

"Do you think I'll also be a Gryffindor in Hogwarts? You know, like you and Mom and Dad.." I repeated.

"Yes why wouldn't you be? You're the bravest person I know. Don't worry about the sorting." He said. I gave him a smile and just a moment later Madam Malkin was back and measured us.

We gave her the money for our uniforms and were just walking around in Diagon Alley as we had a lot of spare time left. We were talking about so many different things and topics, but something else caught my attention mid conversation. Or I should better say someone.

There was a boy, around my age, who was looking at me. He had black, messy hair and green eyes. He noticed that I was looking at him too and slightly blushed. I quickly threw him a dirty look. In return he gave me a smirk. He probably was thinking something mean about me and was too afraid to say it to my face!

"What an idiot" Mason said after the boy was out of sight.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

"The way he looked at you and blushed.. that's just disgusting." he answered and i started laughing.

As we were slowly walking to our meeting point with mom and dad we agreed on trying to convince them to get us ice cream. Luckily they approved and there we were. A happy little family eating ice cream after a perfect shopping day. Of course I had raspberry flavoured ice cream - my favourite.

"I still can't believe I'm basically ready to go to Hogwarts" I said as we arrived at our car and got in.

We left pretty early because we had a long drive a head of us. We lived in a small village, with maybe 300 inhabitants, far away from the big cities. I fell asleep while we were still in the car and had sweet dreams of the upcoming time.
