Mama Mayor

A daily dose, I wish i could repeat. The smell of bacon and eggs in the morning burning because no one is paying attention to the stove. The laughs I could hear from my bedroom about how they should've paid attention. The knocks on my door as I pretend to be asleep like a child as if I'm not a grown woman. A moment I've always wished to enjoy.

"Meghan."

Mama Mayor calls out to her to wake up from her sleep and is begging her to recook since she's the only one who knows how. Meghan gets up and teaches her mama over and over again about how to pay attention to what she cooks.

"Should I get more ingredients?"

Meghan shakes her head. She holds out her hand and Mama Mayor fills it with 2 eggs. As Meghan gets closer and closer, the smell of the burnt bacon and eggs becomes overwhelming. Mama Mayor laughs as she dumps the food in the trash. She washes the utensils she used again so Meghan can start off fresh. Meghan places a few pieces of bacon on the pan and moves it around. You can notice that she's extra careful with what she does since she perfectly avoids getting popped by the hot grease. She places an egg on that same pan and uses the bacon grease to cook it. She popped the yolk because she knew that Mama Mayor hated sunny side up.

Meghan hands Mama Mayor the plate and watches as she happily enjoys her breakfast. All the praise Meghan got felt like an she was exaggerating to much. Deep down, Meghan knew she was a good cook, but this was just bacon and eggs.

"Meghan, you must've cooked again. It smells delicious."

Doctor Dad.

As Meghan placed down some more bacon, Doctor Dad gave her a kiss on the forehead in the place of a "Good Morning." She later places the egg and leaves the yolk since Doctor Dad enjoyed sunny side up. Meghan always believed it was strange. Mama Mayor and Doctor Dad were COMPLETE opposites, and yet they grew up in love with each other.

"Opposites Attract."

That's what Mama Mayor would always say.

"She used to hate me so much."

That's what Doctor Dad would always say.

Either way Meghan thought that whatever story they had together, it had to be romantic. Of course, it was up to the Aware to determine that. It may change, it may not.

"Meghan."

Doctor Dad looked up at Meghan as if the world was ending. He looked terrified.

"How you made this breakfast... it isn't human."

Meghan shoved Doctor Dad as if he said the most embarrassing thing to her (it wasn't). She made her plate, but instead of eggs, she had toast with jelly. She never really liked eggs and the family understood why. For some reason, the Aware didn't want her to.
