"Hey Raven!" Matt said. His voice was smooth, like melted chocolate.

"Hello Matt!" Raven greeted him happily.

"Who's your friend?" He said, referring to me.

"This is Bethany! She just moved across the street! She's my new neighbor, and she's gonna be joining our class on Wednesday!" She said.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you, Matt." I said, trying to act normal. But it was so hard because for once a cute guy was actually nice to me when most of the time the hot guys are rude and mean and jerks! And he was so nice, and I think he said something to me. Wait, did he say something to me? I'm not sure.

"Hey, um, Beth, are you okay? I just asked you how old you are, and all you did was get pale. I know that sounds weird, but for real..." Matt said, with a concerned look on his face.

"I'm pale? I said. Crap. I'm screwing up my first impression.

"Yeah, you actually kinda are." Raven told me. Listen Matt, I should take Beth back to her house just in case she's sick. Maybe all three of us can hang out tomorrow?"

"No I'm fine!" I said quickly.

"No Beth, your not." Matt said with such gentleness in his voice.

"Come on Beth." Raven said quietly. "See you tomorrow, Matt."

"Bye Raven, bye Beth." He said pulling us both in a group hug. His body was so warm, and his bare arms were soft.

"Bye Matt." I said sadly. "It was nice meeting you, I'm really sorry."

"Don't apologize Beth! I'll see you tomorrow." He said with a wink.

We walked outside, and cooler air hit me. Winters in California weren't that cold, but they were cool enough to make you wish you were inside by a nice fire. As we walked back across the street, I looked around at all the Christmas lights that decorated the near houses. The soft white lights looked beautiful against the velvet sky. We walked in complete silence back to our house. I felt fine, and not even a bit sick. I really wish I hadn't panicked in front of Matt. I'm not sure why, because Matt is just another guy. We walked up to the porch, but instead of going inside, Raven stopped me.

"Beth, tomorrow we are going to have a fun time, okay?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't we?" I asked.

"I don't know, but you were acting a little weird around Matt. He's a nice guy, you don't need to act all ackward around him, Okay?"

"Is he single?" I asked, before I really knew what I was saying. As soon as the words left my glossed lips, I regretted.

"Oooooooo!" Squealed Raven. "Your Interested?" She asked.

"Well, um, actually-"

"It's okay Beth. The answer is yes he is single. I could talk to him about asking you out if you wanted!" She said, without even a bit of sarcasm.

"Raven, that's okay. I'd prefer to wait until he actually knows me a bit more, of course, before he asks me out. I want him to ask me out because he wants to. Not out of niceness."

"Is niceness even a word?" Raven asks, giggling.

I started laughing. "I have no idea." And we laughed out there on the porch. The wind playing with our hair, the sky fading into a deep black, and the Christmas lights shining all around us. Our laughs were carried by the wind, and a few people heard us.

"Brrrr, it's really cold out." Raven said.

"Haha, no it's not!" I said, taking out my phone. "Raven, look! It's only 53° out!"

"Can we go inside and get some cocoa please?" Raven laughed while looking at me with puppy dog eyes.

"Haha, fine!" I said and opened the door for her. "Ladies first!" I said laughing.

"After you." She said in a deep voice.

"No, after you!" I said mimicking her. And we laughed and went inside.

Haha sorry for the short chapter my perfect queens! I'm legit so tired that I can barely think so oops and it is three in the morning and I haven't slept at all so like maybe I should just pull in all nighter but I've never done that before so screw that idea so I'm just gonna go grab some chips or something.
