Rendezvous Anew

"I am woman with a man who's inlove in his twenties."

As I was on my way to go to work, walking in the train station, I suddenly caught a familiar pair of almond eyes that instantly captures my attention. I felt my heart skips a beat. The changes in him are so evident that I couldn't help but feel at care seeing he's been well after all those years.

Days passed after that encounter, I hurriedly went to the train station for a ride when suddenly I bump into someone which caused my things to fell and scattered on the ground

"Are you okay?" A man with a husky voice asked.

"oh, I'm fine, I just felt a bit dizzy." I slowly got up and noticed the man I bumped into picked up my things from the ground. The man held my arms giving me support to help me balance myself. A shocked expression plastered on my face as I saw the face of the man in front.

"It's been awhile, Olivia!" I froze in shock that I couldn't move an inch. My mind couldn't process anything to  reply  to him.

"Hey! Long time n-no see..... Aiden?" I replied to him in a confused and stuttering voice.

"How have you been? " He asked, handling over the things he had picked up from the ground.

"Well, My life's been better ever since you left me." I replied sacastically.

I saw a hint of bitterness and regret in his smile.

"Are you busy after your work? Can i ask some of your time. I want to talk to you about something." He asked.

I was surprised by his courage of asking some time from me to talk about some things that should've been discussed years ago.

As I checked on my phone, I saw an unknown number with a message that stated a location, It is one of the famous and prestigious restaurant. The following message asked if I would like to get a ride yet I refused.

I arrived at the restaurant and saw him. He offered me a chair.
As the candle flickered between us, casting long shadows on our faces. Aiden broke the silence. "Olivia," he began, his voice is somewhat whispering. "I need to tell you someting."

I glanced at him, my heart was pounding, "What is it, Aiden?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

He took a deep breath looking down at his hands. "My father..... he is a mafia boss. He's been the reason why I left the opportunity to become an actor."

I felt a chill run down my spine. "What!?" I exclaimed, barely believing what i just heard.

Aiden nodded and his face looked pale. "I just found out after I left you. I..... didn't want to, but I had to leave. I thought it was just a normal call knowing that dad wants me to go into him but it wasn't simple. I just want to protect you."

I felt a lump in my throat. "So you left, just to just to protect me?" I asked, my voice was barely a whisper.

"Yes," he said, looking at me with a pain in his eyes mirroring in mine. " I love you, Olivia. I always have and I always will. But I couldn't let your life be in danger.I am afraid that if I showed up, I might not be able to leave you again for I couldn't bear to be away from you and see you bring all the weight into yourself"

I felt tears prick at my eyes. "But i lost so much, Aiden. My family..... I grieved for them and for you."

"I know, if it weren't my father this couldn't happen, I messed up everything that I couldn't protect your family too, I was careless seeing you in secret and  my father's enemy had been around and know my weakness" he said in a gentle voice. "I'm so sorry Olivia. I want us to face this together, please give me another chance. I did everything to save your family, I give those killers on what they deserve yet the most thing I successfully protected was only you, I am sorry I hadn't saved them, I did my all best to save them but I failed to kill them and not to harm your family, I was in the middle of my problems together with my fathers' and I couldn't bear doing both in the same time to solve the problem."

I looked at him, my heart was pounding. The news hit me liked a ton of bricks. I felt a mix of emotions shock, anger, and a deep-seated pain. Knowing everything that his father was one of the greatest mafia bosses. This secret life was filled with enemies and dangers, making it impossible for him to live a normal life. Who would think of his love for me was the reason he had left. He didn't want me to get caught in the crossfire of his dangerous life but those cruel people had done a lot in my family.

He reached across the table, taking my hand in his. "We can do anything, Olivia, as long as we're together. I'll always protect you."

Everything felt real that I didn't realize my feelings for him still remains. I had no one yet what must I fight for now is myself. Would it be more dangerous to be with him knowing what he is in right now? This love story had a climax of a danger and excitement, what must I get if I get to seek for this love and what consequences must I face if I listen to this.

And in that moment, I knew he was right. No matter what will come in our way. We could face this together.
