Spirits Eve was an endearing celebration, albeit not my favorite by any means. I enjoyed the fantastical nature of the holiday but I fail to understand the occult nature of it. Witches and ghouls fail to grasp my attention.

However, after Farmer begged for me to change my mind, I walked into town square alongside her, dressed as a pirate.

"I fear that Willy may find our costumes offensive."

Farmer skipped ahead of me, her bar-maiden dress bouncing behind her, "You live in an abandoned cabin by the beach and you love the sea. Very suspect for someone who's not a pirate."

I laughed and reached out for her hand.

"Quite chilly out tonight." I mentioned, the cold of fall was starting to become wintery. Soon snow would cover the streets Farmer skipped on.

"That's why you have me." Farmer wrapped an arm around me and burrowed into my side, "Now let me show you my favorite childhood memory."

Farmer led me through the tables and we stood at the start of the maze.

"Sometimes my grandpa needed help during Fall harvest, so my family would visit for a week. Things were very different back then, but I always remember getting lost in this maze with my siblings."

She turned to look up at me with sweet pleading eyes, "Will you do the maze with me?"

I shook my head and sighed, "How could I ever tell you no when you look at me like that."

Farmer smiled maliciously and she ran into the maze, "First one to finish gets Marnie's pumpkin pie!"

"Hey that's not fair-" I yelled back, quickly losing her within the bushes.

I had never done the maze before, the year prior I spent my time drinking apple cider and catching up with Leah. However, Farmer was so open to new ideas I found myself following whatever she threw herself into.

I quickly lost my way and found myself at a dead end, was there even a way out?

"Hello? Is someone- or-or something-g there?" I heard a nervous voice call out.

"Just me, Elliott." I replied through the bush.

"Oh thank Yoba. This maze is so scary." I recognized the voice as Harvey and I made my way towards him.

The maze was in a traditional sense, scary, but I found it to be less than frightening. The spiders, hands, and other ghoulish decorations were very clearly plastic and harmless.

"Are you well Harvey?" I asked upon seeing him curled up in a dead end.

"I'm not a fan of spiders. Especially not human sized ones."

I nodded and extended my hand out for him.

"Let's get you out of here, doctor."

With a hand on his back we both tried our best to navigate a way out, eventually getting back to the tables of food.

"Thank you Elliott.. and good luck... with Farmer. I hope it works out for you." He said while looking down.

"I appreciate it Harvey."

I was about to give in and grab a drink until a familiar pair of hands covered my eyes.

"I suspect that these are the hands of my favorite farmer." I said with a smile.

"You know other farmers?!" Farmer exclaimed jokingly. She uncovered my eyes and happily twirled in her pirate attire.

"No, I only know one farmer. She's quite special."
