"Jessie! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" I spring my eyes open."What Laurie?" I groan rubbing my sleep away.
"Maddie is here!" Laurie yells jumping on my bed.
I sit up and watch Maddie step through my bedroom door. She is wearing a white sweater, a purple lace scarf along with light blue skinny jeans. The perfect future mother attire.
"Good morning!" Sings Maddie.
Laurie jumps up and Maddie lifts her off the ground. It's so sweet. Watching Laurie smile and giggle as Mads gives her tiny kisses. Everyone loves Laurie.
"Why are you here?" I snap grabbing my phone. It's 8:00am. Why can't I just get an hour or two more sleep?!?!?
"Because Drew's party is tonight and you said I could do your makeup!" Maddie whined.
"Yeah but Maddie its a party not prom."
"Whatever. Lizzie is meeting up at my house in half and hour so shower, shave, and moisturize." She Winks.
20 minutes later I have done all the above and slipped on a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt.
As we approach Maddie's house I notice a twinge of excitement. I don't like getting dressed up but a little pampering couldn't hurt.
"Sup Jess!" Smiles Lizzie.
I close Maddie's bedroom door and look at a small table covered with makeup and lotions of sorts.
"Those are for you my dear." Chirps Maddie.
Lizzie is wearing a purple robe and has her hair in lovely curlers. Maddie must have started on her already.
"Show her the dress." Urges Lizzie looking over at the closet.
Maddie smiles and makes her way over. A few ruffles of searching and Maddie pulls out the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. It's mid-thigh length, rose red, and has sparkles along the waist.
"Maddie its so pretty!" I gush staring at the outfit.
"You're going to look so amazing tonight!" She squeals.
I take a seat and Maddie curls my hair then pins them to my head for a loose wave effect. Then she applies eyeliner, mascara, light tan and gold eye-shadow, and some blush that highlights my cheekbones. She even did my eyebrows (which I never attempt) The hairpins come out and my hair falls and frames my face.
"And viola!"
I grasp the mirror and look at the model staring back at me. This is not my natural face. Maddie did an amazing job. I look really good.
"Oh my god you look so beautiful!" Gasps Lizzie.
"What I don't look beautiful every day?" I pout.
Lizzie rolls her eyes and smiles. "You look great. Any guy would be lucky to even talk to you."
I smile and touch the dress that's hanging on the doorknob.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Asks Maddie.
I freeze. Nick. What if he's there? He probably will go. What if I see him? It will be so awkward....
"Nothing. It's Lizzie's turn."
*******
2 hours later I'm in the dress and gazing at my reflection. I really wanna sing the song in Mulan. You know? Who is that girl I see, staring straight back at me?
