"Atlas, I have some important questions about Eowyn. Do you feel up to answering them?" Felix whispered to the boy who looked very comfortable in Chan's arms.

Atlas nodded softly, hiding his face in Chan's shoulder. Felix smiled sadly as he watched the fledgeling.

"Is Eowyn the same thing as you? Is she a Starborne as well?" Felix questioned, running his hand up and down Atlas's back soothingly.

The child lifted his head from Chan's neck, looking at Felix with furrowed brows. "I think so?"

Felix hummed. "What do you mean, you think so?"

"She does the same things I do, but she doesn't look like me. Her eyes aren't rainbow like mine are. Mommy always said she was different. Mommy told me that Eowyn was different from me and everyone else in the entire world. Mommy said that Eowyn would bring back the power we were always 'posed to have. I don't know what that meant."

Felix thought for a moment. "She has the same power as you?"

Atlas nodded enthusiastically for a second before his expression melted into a frown. "She can do the same things I can, but Valerian hyung always made both of us stay older. We didn't like it, but he would hurt us worse if we complained."

Felix had to take a deep breath to stop himself from visibly seething and scaring Atlas. "Alright, besides shapeshifting, is there anything else she can do?" The elytrian glanced up and caught Chan's eyes. The vampire looked confused as if he had no idea where Felix was going with these questions. Felix barely knew where he was going either, but he did have a destination.

Atlas furrowed his brows, looking deep in thought. "Whenever Wynnie was in her original form, weird things happened. Everything always looked more shiny and slightly blurry, like I was in a dream. It never happened when Valerian hyung made us stay older. Wynnie never got to be a kid very often. Sometimes I could do it and Valerian hyung wouldn't yell at me, but Wynnie never could. He would start yelling and hitting when Wynnie tried to be a kid again."

Felix remembered one of the only stories he remembered from his mother. When he couldn't sleep as a child, she used to sit in her rocking chair and tell him stories of a line of very powerful Magicfolk who had no magic of their own, back when magic still existed. Instead of having magic themselves, they supplied the world with magic. There was only one born every generation. His mother had called them "The Magic Incarnate".

Felix was starting to realize a pattern here. Atlas said that Eowyn had no other power than shapeshifting. Not until two moon cycles ago, when Felix suddenly lit up with a power that had been dead for thousands of years, long before magic itself died. And then he couldn't activate it again until one moon cycle ago. Eowyn had never been taught how to activate her ability, so it only activated in moments of fear and distress when she was in her original form. Three more times after that, the only moments when Eowyn was shifted, she felt enough distress to activate her true power.

Eowyn wasn't just a magic being.

Eowyn was magic itself.

That's what Atlas's mother had meant. When she said power, she meant magic. The last Magic Incarnate dying a thousand years ago had been the reason for magic disappearing. Eowyn's birth was the world healing itself. She was born the new Magic Incarnate and was meant to bring magic back to the world, but that was being prevented by someone evil. Valerian was the worst person who ever could have gotten his hands on her.

The third time in her entire life that Eowyn shifted back into her original form, she felt enough distress that Chan received the power Queen Paradise once had, the ability to manipulate the Earth beneath his feet. And now, the fourth time Eowyn had shifted, she was desperately begging for someone to save her. Because of this, Hyunjin received the fire powers that belonged in the hands of blazebornes.
