My body lay limp in a crimson puddle of blood. I clutched my side, a knife protruding from my body. I wanted to scream and yell for help, yet I was too weak to move. There were faint voices that slowly grew louder, my survival instincts told me to try and get to the voices, but my body said no. All I could do was sit and wait and hope someone would stumble upon me and call for help.
As more time passed the cold air nipped at my exposed skin making my body feel stiffer. It felt like the life was slowly being sucked out of me, I pushed myself to keep fighting; I was not going to give up yet. While I lay helplessly on the cold ground all I could think about was my friends and family. I couldn't bear the thought of them knowing I died in a sketchy alleyway. The other thoughts on my mind were the fact I was only young; I had my whole life to live. I had a future to build. I needed to experience a lot more things; I wanted to experience a lot more things. I knew I had to survive.
I gathered every drop of strength I had left to haul myself slowly to my feet. Making sure to keep my hands pressed tightly around the knife wound, I found my way while I dragged my feet one by one, etching closer to the opening. The walk to the end of the alleyway seemed to drag on forever. "Please! Anyone! Help me!" I groaned staggering out of the alleyway. My breath hitched as my legs gave way and I fell back to the ground. At least I was in the open, I thought to myself. I tried to scream again but I could barely whisper. My hope was running out, but I knew I could not give up; my fight was not over.
My trembling fingers scraped at the concreate wall beside me to pull myself to my feet. Bruised and bloody I found my way to a building with steps out the front. There were some lights still on inside, falling onto the steps I banged on the door a couple times. "Please!" I murmured under my breath. While I sat hoping for someone to emerge the building, I looked up into the black sea of stars. The stars in the night sky brought me comfort, darkness filled my vision as I closed my eyes. The last thing I heard was the faint sound of rushing footsteps.
