Twenty-Two: Ego First, Lover Aside

Nathaniel breathed out due to irritation.

Clenching his jaw he looked at the can bottle in his hand, looking at its name, his anger grew more.

Not being able to control his anger, he shouted her name.

"ARIA!!"

"ARIA!!"

Aria came towards him running from the kitchen, looking concerned.

"What happened?? Is everything okay?" She questioned him.

"No! It's not. When it's you who's managing everything." Aria gave him a look after hearing his taunt.

It's been a week since they fought, no one confronted each other. Aria waited for him to talk and Nathaniel ignored her due to the shameful act he did with her.

They say man's biggest betrayal is his ego. It always comes in between when it isn't needed.

He wanted to confront but his ego is not allowing him to apologise.

It's her fault, how can she say that to her own boyfriend?

I'm not mentally unstable to go there.

It should be her who should apologise not me.

Since then he started avoiding her. He stopped meeting her after her shift, stopped staying at her place, avoided her calls and messaged. Only met her when he missed her. Which he does always but controls himself. He wants her to come first to him.

Aria gave him the space he needed, but like every woman who is in love will always worry for their lover, and just like any of them, she too got worried, she too missed him. But his ignorance made her heart break.

So she did what anyone would do at her place, she apologized to him and told him to come back. And after sending a lot of texts, he finally answered her and chose to come back.

Aria was glad he did, she would apologise thousands of times if he chose to come back to her. She doesn't care if it's her fault or not, all that matters to her was him, only him.

But Nathaniel can't face her after everything he did to her, he needs time, for himself to think about everything.

But he missed her. Everyday, every moment, he missed her. He can't stay away from her for so long.

So today, after a week, he finally came back. But now he seems to regret it.

"What happened?? Will you explain more clearly?"

"Look at this this!! You know I don't use this cream for shaving! Then why the fuck you brought this one!!!?" He yelled at her.

Early in the morning he told Aria to bring a new shaving cream which she forgot to buy, Aria to make him happy and went to purchase it.

But sometimes not everything goes the way you want it to happen.

"I looked for the one you use everyday but they weren't there, so I brought this one. Adjust this time next time I'll bring it."

Nathaniel clenched his jaw, controlling his anger. He glared at her and replied.

"I fucking don't want this!!" He threw the can away, its noise resonating throughout the room.

Aria winced at the loud noise, his anger on small things is making a small root of fear grow inside Aria's heart.
