Watering hole

I'll step off the ledge
watching and waiting for you
You tell me an anchor is digging deep
Dragging you down and I'm one too

I wonder if I'm pulling you from the storm
Or drowning you in the deep end
I could be the sail, take that form
Seems like pouring water in an ocean is a fail

I'll be the boat you take to get away
Something for you to use to escape
Afraid to ask you to stay
As if I'm no longer allowed

Suddenly I'm flooded
Mind underwater
And I've sunken
Tears engulf me

Breathing water like it's air
It pumps through, replacing my blood
I grow cold while all you do is stare
The best what if, I could ever be
